Authoress Note: Hello, Yes I know this is different than anything else that I've posted but I love Titanic, movie and actual event. This is just a poem about it

How to be a Hero

A Titanic Poem

April 14 and April 15, 11:40 pm to 2:20 am, 1912

The water was cold, the stars bright, the music lively

Women and children first they called, but not all of them made it

Drink your way to living, or just accept your fate

The Titanic, the unsinkable ship was going to sink

Thousands of people aboard, most won't live to see the sun again

Millionaires and coal workers together on the same ship

Everyone was in the same boat

Harold Bride and Jack Phillips relayed their SOS call until the last minute

Officers Murdoch, Lowe, and Lightroller thrust people into the lifeboats

No concern for themselves only the passengers

The band, keeping the music up until they sunk

Violet Jessop, helping her passengers til the end

The Unsinkable Molly Brown for helping out in the lifeboat

Captain Rostron of the Carpathia for taking in the survivors

And Harold Cottam, the wireless operator of the Carpathia

Who never stopped trying to find the sunken ship and its passengers

2,208 passengers, 1,053 dead, 712 alive, and 300 pulled from the sea

How to be a hero is the question that was asked

But does anyone know who these heroes are?

How to be a hero was the question posed

The answer is don't try to be one, it doesn't happen like that

These people were trying live

To survive that horrid night

But what is a hero if no one knows who they are

Are they still heroes

Or merely just names in a history book
