Sunsets

A/N: This is a really short drabble that just wouldn't leave me alone so here it is! R/R

"What do you regret the most?" Chrono asked as he stared at the fading sunset. He hated that there was no way to prevent this. He so wanted to prevent it. "Please Rosette, tell me the truth."

"I wanted to have a family with you Chrono. That is the thing I regret the most." Rosette smiled as she saw Chrono's shocked face from the corner of her eye. "Joshua could have been the silly uncle and we would have been such great parents. I just wish we could have had that together."

"Rosette... that would have been wonderful." Chrono reached over and pulled her head onto his shoulder and rested his forehead against the crown of her head. "But you know Rosette, I thought of Azmaria as our daughter in a way. Satella was kinda like an aunt too. Sister Kate and Father Johan were the grandparents. It was like the family neither of us had."

"I'm glad you see that too." Rosette smiled as she felt her eyes growing heavier. Maybe a minute or two more was all she had left so she had to make these words count. "Chrono, I don't regret my choice you know, I'm okay with it. Everything worked out and we can be together here at the end. That's what important to me."

Chrono struggled to draw in air to get these last words out as he grasped her hand and felt the sunset warming his face. "I love you, Rosette."

Rosette could here a car coming down the driveway, but it didn't matter because their time was at an end and Chrono was here with her, nothing else was important. She couldn't even open her eyes anymore and she could barely feel Chrono breathing under her head. " Love you too."
