HAPPY FATHERS DAY
Edward Elric slowly walked home from his trip to his parents' graves. He paid respects to his beloved mother and his "one sorry excuse for a father", as he calls him. The dirt road, long and winding, led the way towards the rebuilt Elric home. The wind blew gently and the sun shone brilliantly. It was a fine morning in Risembool.
He stopped to look at the view of the fields from atop a hill. Rainbows of flowers filled the scenery. He closed his eyes and remembered the time when he and Alphonse ran around that very field, picking flowers for their mother. He smiled at the sudden memory of his brother, now residing in Central with his wife Mei, and continued on his way back home.
Looking up at the endless sky, he had a sudden thought about immortality. His father, Hohenheim, had it, but the curse slowly faded as he protected his children against Father, the creature in the flask. Hohenheim died with a smile on his face, sitting before the headstone that bore the name "Trisha Elric". His life was well-lived, with a balance of ups and downs. He looked forward and noticed he was almost home. A few steps later, Edward kicked at a stone as he made his way across the front lawn.
He went up the porch steps and opened the front door.
CRASSSHHHH
A porcelain plate lay in pieces on the wooden floor next to several pancakes, a strawberry and his son fussing over a tray.
"Oops," said the young boy with brilliant gold eyes and hair like his father. He dropped the tray and ran to hug his dad.
"Happy Father's Day, Dad!" he grinned. Edward smiled back. "I'm sorry about the mess… It was supposed to be your breakfast…Mom and I made it just for you!" His eyes started tearing up and he took a glance at the mess behind him.
"That's alright, son" Edward said, patting his son's head.
"I love you, Dad."
Not necessarily the best I could do, but WRITERS BLOCK has been killing me lately.
