They were whole now, with hearts, emotions, real lives. Naminé and Roxas did not live with Sora and Kairi. Somehow they had been transported to Twilight Town, the friendly town that had become their home for their time away from their Somebodies.
Maybe it was all just an illusion, but even it was, they were perfectly content with it.
When he looked at her, he did not see Kairi's red hair or unique lavender eyes. No, instead, he saw her pale blonde hair and beautiful blue eyes. She resembled her Somebody with the same heart shaped face and pale skin tone and slim body, but she couldn't be more different.
When she looked at him, she saw blonde swirls and locks, not brunette spikes. Cerulean eyes instead of sky colored irises and paler skin that still held a golden tone. And a softer smile that was rarer to find. Roxas was not Sora, no matter if his name was an anagram with an 'x' placed in the center.
They had their own friends, their own memories now.
This is just a short little drabble I came up with when I was thinking about the end of Kingdom Hearts II. You know, that part right after Riku and Sora step through the Door To Light and he's sitting there in front of Kairi saying "We're - we're back!" and she says "You're home."? In those seconds where they show Sora as Roxas and Kairi as Naminé, I thought, "What if Roxas and Naminé saw each other as themselves, not looking out through the eyes of Sora and Kairi?"
And so this little piece of work was born!
