The song is called 'Simple and Clean', by Utada Hikaru.
When you walk away
You don't hear me say,
"Please, oh baby, don't go."
Simple and clean is the way that you're making me feel tonight
It's hard to let it go
"No! I have had enough! All you do is use me.. hurt me.." Roxas cried as he ran out the door. Axel hurridly followed him. "W-wait! Don't go! It's true that I was using you at first.. but you're so kind and clever and lovable, that I.. started to really love you." Axel admitted. "Please don't go!"
"You wouldn't miss me! Roxas screamed as he ran away.
"That's not true!" Axel shouted after him. Devastated he said to himself, "I would..."
You're giving me too many things
Lately, you're all I need.
You smiled at me and said,
"Don't get me wrong, I love you,
But does that mean I have to meet your father?"
When we are older you'll understand
What I meant when I said,
"No, I don't think life is quite that simple."
-Flashback to High School-
"Listen, Roxy, I love you. You know I do. But how can I prove it?" Axel softly asked.
"M-meet my father. If he likes you, than you're for real.." Roxas shakily replied.
"Oh Roxy.. OK, but let me say this: Life isn't quite that simple."
"W-what do you mean?" Roxas asked.
"When we're older, you'll understand." Axel sighed. "Come on; let's go to your house and meet your father."
That was the day everything started.
The daily things that keep us all busy
Are confusing me
That's when you came to me and said,
"Wish I could prove I love you,
But does that mean I have to walk on water?"
When we are older you'll understand
It's enough when I say so
And maybe some things are that simple
-Present, Roxas POV-
"How could I have been such a fool.." Roxas cried."Nobody could love me, least of all him, the perfect boy.." Everything was confusing him so much that he was lost in the labyrinth of streets. Suddenly he was tackled and pinned to the ground by an unseen force. Looking up, he saw it had been Axel who had pinned him down. "Let me go.." Roxas feebly protested.
"Only when you hear what I have to say." Demanded Axel.
Roxas nodded, and Axel continued. "What do I have to do to prove I love you? It's like walking on water convincing you-impossible. Why don't you believe me when I say, 'I love you'?"
"In high school, I remember you saying life isn't simple.."
Axel sighed. "Well, life isn't simple, buts some things in life are simple. Like 'I love you'."
Axel got up and helped Roxas up. "We can start over. No more lies- we can love each other for real."
"Promise, Axel?" Roxas asked, starting to feel better.
"I promise."
