Goku was bored. There was no threat, no one to fight or destroy. The young Saiyan hadn't seen Vegeta that whole day and he wasn't in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber either. Goku wondered if he'd finally taken his advice and relaxed for a bit, maybe with his family whom he hardly spent enough time with- but then he got up out of bed and saw the prince flying laps around his house with heavy weights on his wrists and ankles. So much for that.

Yawning, Goku tossed aside his sheets with unnecessary force and leapt up, stretched, and when he was finally content, walked happily to the kitchen where he was greeted by his wife making breakfast. His two sons, Gohan and Goten, sat munching their food and were soon joined by their father and also MANY, MANY piles of plates and bowls.

'Really, boys. I turn around for five seconds, and there's another six bowls added to that already huge pile. Unbelievable. Bulma was right! And she said her two ate more than mine. No way.' She sighed, scooping up the towering heaps professionally and swiftly heading back for the kitchen to wash up.

Behind her back, the sons and their father shared a secret laugh. Goku then proceeded to inform his sons of his dilemma.

'Gohan, Goten- your father's in a spot of trouble.' Goku began, scoffing a plate of eggs, observing his sons' reactions.

'What happened dad?!' Goten immediately asked, burping loudly and receiving a chuckle from his older brother.

'Well, I haven't got anyone to fight and I'm bored!' Goku replied in his childish, high-pitched voice. Gohan, his elder son, pushed his glasses up.

'Dad- why don't you fight Vegeta? Or wait- did he just glare at you when you asked?' Goten nodded and imagined Vegeta glaring. It wasn't hard. He even did it to his son, Trunks, who was Goten's friend. Although he was slightly younger, there was only a little difference in their power levels. Thinking this made Goten proud- he wanted to follow in his dad's footsteps and become the most powerful fighter on Earth and maybe even the universe (with the exception of the God of Destruction Lord Beerus and the angel Whis).

'Well- he just glared at me through the window and I guess he doesn't wanna fight. After all, he looks pretty happy just training on his own up there. I don't want to disturb him.'

'We understand,' said his sons in unison. Then Gohan followed:

'Yeah, he's probably busy. Maybe you'd be better off fighting someone not in the present.' At this strange remark, Goku looked up, confused, just missing both his sons exchange smiling glances.

'Uh- sure. Take care of Chi Chi while I'm away. I'm just going to train, okay Gohan, Goten? Well, I'll be going then.' Goku stood up, smiling. His conversation with his sons had given him a spark of an idea in his dull mind. Maybe he didn't need to find someone to fight in the present.

All he had to do was fight someone in the PAST!

Fuelled with this new desire, off Goku flew, with the excuse of training, past Vegeta, who was on his hundredth lap, and straight on towards Capsule Corp, the home of Vegeta, Bulma and Trunks. But his final destination lay further inside. He was going to use Bulma's time machine.

He was going to fight Black.

Again.

And this time, he'd win.
