swathed in blue

or

{lapis lazuli}

floating down dream's nocuous river

ignoring the stygian cries

life itself is over

and you've decided to die.

an angel's hand rests upon yours

a haunting elegy plays

there is nothing here anymore

and so you refuse to stay.

crystalline drops of silver

paint your child's eyes

as you step out the doorway

and whisper a hollowed goodbye.

the cerulean hums a lullaby

as the venom settles in

the world dims through your sandpaper eyes

you've lost your voice in a din.

sinking into bottomless lies

there is fire in your lungs

lightning courses through your veins

as you stare at the diamond suns.

salvation illuminates the glacial dark

with its sunshine and turquoise swirls

a dulcet laugh, a whirlwind kiss

and you are lost to the world.

her eyes are the sapphire sea

beckoning your soul

enrapturing and magnificent

and you are almost whole.

like a gentle summer breeze

her hand caresses your cheek

a golden wish wafts by

but you are still weak.

basking in nostalgia

staring at the orange sun

with your lover right beside you

a voice tells you to run.

it was all just a beautiful nightmare

albeit faded in color

her last image is tainted with blood

as she writhes in terror.

a dagger slices through your heart

a bright light shines

you've lost everything

by crossing the line.

floating down dream's nocuous river

ignoring the stygian cries

life itself is over

and so you die.

a/n: Hullo, there. This poem's actually for James Cahill, after the death of his wife. After wanting to write something for his character for a long time, this was what I finally came up with. Ambiguous, I know, but that's what I was aiming for. I'm also thinking of leaving this without an explanation, simply because I'd want you to interpret this any way you like. But if you are still a little confused, then drop by my profile and send me a PM. ;) I won't bite. Besides, I'd really like to have another PM buddy—that'd just be awesome.

On another note, my dear friend Joyce's (Cascading Rainbows) forum, The Madrigals, has rather been dwindling in activity. Therefore, I suggest you peeps check it out 'cause it is off the chain and all that jazz. A lot of awesome people (including myself, lol) hang out there, and it's a place where can pick up a lot of writing tips from your fellow authors. Seriously, it's really good. xD So y'all better check it out. You won't regret it! : )
