They walked, the noise of their feet drowned out by the sound of the bells jingling about their hips and ankles. The sound of coins long since forgotten in their purses. They were stealth by no means but they feared nothing. There was a line of them that wound through the forest. The stragglers holding back the others. On they had walked, through Eco territory and into the now techno sector. They needed a place to rest, all of them were weary. Sandaled feet hit hard on the pavement as Tigs ran to Larina and Di-yani. The co leaders of the gypsies had been both separated and united in deep thought. The hopes that this city would bring them happiness, wealth and a new way of life. "I've just come from the back, there's only a few slow ones this time everyone's wanting to settle down for the night," said Tigs out of breath. Sirena smiled as she heard the girl's excited tone.Larina, she was a gem among the gypsies. She had formed them together when they were separated and suffering after the virus. She had been sitting alone in the very same warehouse they were heading to now, a fire lit in front of her. Little by little people came into the place calling for the warmth that not even the fire could quench within them. Di had been one of the first to find her. The girls had instantly hit it off and welcomed many others into their circle of friends, including Sirena.
Di-Yani or Di as she liked to be called had wandered aimlessly through the streets after she was cast out and chased by the Locos. She had hid in the sector five warehouse where she found comfort in the company of someone who didn't care what tribe she was in or what gifts she had. Within that hour the Gypsy Tribe was born.
Sirena was the mysterious one of the group. Her gift of dance and her silence separated her from most of the others. Many believed she was mute but those who were privileged enough, knew she could speak her mind when she wanted to. She came alive when she danced; the music lit the kindling of her soul and made her body praise the heavens above. She had fallen into the door of the warehouse on that fateful night. Wounds covered her, inflicted from an unknown source. Larina and Di took care of her. If they wouldn't have she might be dead to this day.
Tigs, was always the carefree child of the group. She insisted on seeing every silver lining even on the darkest of clouds. That's what most of their tribe loved about her. She did what she was asked with ease and wisdom beyond her years. She had joined their troupe someway through the forest, the Eco's had enjoyed the Gypsies entertainment immensely and had favored them to stay but they traveled. It was the Gypsy way.
Billy, he was a quiet boy. Well you really couldn't call him a boy; he was more a man then any of the ones Larina had met. He did what needed to be done no questions asked. Not much was known about him either except that he kept to himself much in the same way Sirena did but he talked.
Many other filled their ranks, but they were the leaders among the others. Role models and playmates for the children. They all came from different pasts. Sirena from the Eco's before she went into the city, Di the Locos and Tigs also the Eco's after Sirena had left, but despite that they all had gifts that united them, forming a bond that held them together as strongly as any real family.
They were they Gypsies.
