A/N: Fairy Tail does not belong to me in any way, shape, or form. Thank you.
To be honest, I didn't think I would participate. But. Here I am. I do apologize for the shortness, but I literally wrote this half an hour ago.
Immortal.
She hated the word, hated everything it stood for.
Most would see it as a gift, to live forever, to go through time unchanged and unchanging, eternally young and having all the future to look forward to.
But she knew what it really meant, what a deceiving word it truly was.
Live forever, stay young and lovely, go through the ages—
Alone.
She was isolated, left behind in a world that no longer knew her. She had grown up long ago, a lady of nobility and stature. She'd been given this curse, a gift, he had told her, because of what she had gone through in her life.
She was given this gift because he took her husband from her. In an effort to apologize (not that he meant it, he just wanted to show off) she was granted this cursed life—to forever wander the ages alone.
She watched as what friends she had back then drew away, wary of what had happened to her and the large marks that now slid up her neck—scales from a snake, tattooed in memory of her husband, one of the leading herpetologists in the country and a famed professor at the capital's prestigious college.
They knew, as did everyone in their town, what had happened, but it was a well-known secret. One they never acknowledged, but all knew.
She was well-off, from a family long gone, and from the research and discoveries her husband had made over the years, so living comfortably wasn't the problem.
It was being alone, stranded in a world that would forget her name, where her friends would all eventually pass on and leave her.
A world without her first and only love.
Lucy Heartfilia Yore, a woman who looked to be in her mid-twenties, would live forever, knowing what true hell was.
