Elsa glanced up when the door to her study opened. There was Anna, her sunshine, who brightened not only the room but Elsa's world.
Anna strode right up and flopped her arms on the desk. "Hi."
"Hello, love."
"Are you still working?"
"I am."
The princess noticed the dark circles under her eyes. There was something off about her sister but she didn't know what. "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine."
"Lies," Anna retorted. "Something's wrong. Please tell me."
Elsa shook her head. "It's nothing, Anna. Don't worry about me."
"But, Elsa it's my job to worry about you. Are you tired? Hungry? I can make you a sandwich."
"No, really. I'm fine."
"You are not fine. Please, I know you. I know you get stressed and I know it makes you lose control sometimes. I just love you so much and I care about you. More than anything."
Elsa's face crumbled. She hunched her shoulders and brought her hands through her hair.
Anna watched as tears rolled down the queen's cheeks. They dripped off her chin and made spots on the papers below. She moved the paperwork aside and gently pried Elsa's hands from her head. Anna held them with care, making circles on her knuckles with her thumbs. "You really have to tell me what's bothering you, Elsa," she said softly. "I'm worried."
"I...I'm just so overwhelmed. I have a lot of work on my hands today that I need to get done. But I want to be with you."
"This is why you're so upset?"
"Yeah..."
Anna gently took Elsa's face and wiped her cheeks. The girl closed her eyes and all but melted into the contact. "Nothing is going to stop you from taking a break, you know. You're exhausted, sis. You need rest."
Elsa bit the corner of her lip. "I know, Anna. I just want to get work done."
"I understand that. It's great that you're committed, but you need to know when enough is enough," Anna brushed Elsa's cheek with a thumb. "So please, take a break."
"Okay. I love you."
Anna hummed in response. She was relieved she made Elsa feel better and that she trusted her. "I love you too."
The sisters rose to their feet and hugged not a second later. Elsa felt her worries melting away in Anna's arms. Anna stroked her back, attempting to comfort her tired sister.
She then locked both arms around Elsa, resting her chin on her shoulder. "Do you want to lay down for a little bit?"
"As long as you stay with me."
"Of course."
Elsa hummed with content as warmth spread throughout her body. She was covered with blankets and she couldn't remember the last time she felt so warm. The cold never bothered her, but this was complete heaven. She opened her eyes when a hand brushed over her forehead. Elsa gave Anna a smile, who was seated next to her. "Cozy?"
"Very cozy."
