Daddy's Little Girl – Prologue

Outside his wife's hospital room, Damon Salvatore paced frequently, unable to bear hearing the screams of the one he loved. Another earsplitting scream was heard from behind the door and he rushed to open it, only to be held back by his brother, Stefan.

"No, Damon. You have to wait, just like the rest of us."

Stefan led his brother back to his chair. The same routine continued on for 6 more hours until the doctor walked out, immediately looking at Damon with a smile.

"Congratulations, Mr. Salvatore. Elena has given birth to a healthy baby girl. You can go in now. She's been asking for you."

And at that, the doctor walked away as Damon made his way to Elena's side. In her arms, wrapped in a light pink blanket, was the most precious thing he had ever seen.

"Can I hold her?"

Damon looked at his wife for permission, and at her nod, lifted the pink bundle into his arms, unable to take his eyes off of her. Elena smiled at her husband and newborn daughter, anxious to see the bond that they would form.

"What should we name her?"

Damon looked at her, then back at his daughter, his eyes deep in thought. A few moments later, he looked up with a smile.

"What about Zariah? Zariah Rose Salvatore?"

Elena smiled, and looked at their little girl.

"Zariah. It's perfect. The perfect name for our perfect little girl."

I'm not that good at prologues, and I'm so sorry about the wait. I've been staring at my screen over and over trying to figure out how to start this story, and I think I finally got it. Hope you enjoy Daddy's Little Girl. Please review and tell me what you think of the prologue.
