Observe.

Samuel Cho, usually known only as Officer Cho, saw a great deal more than most gave him credit for; well, actually, also more than most saw. For example:

In a beginning, he was almost star-struck with the little redhead that would soon become fixture in the Homicide bullpen, ruefully he admitted to a crush on her, and like most jumped to the most obvious conclusion; the redhead had a crush on Inspector Boxer, pretty much like half the precinct. But very quickly the veil was lifted on this conclusion, yet again his crush comes bearing a mention (and the unnecessary attention it merited the reporter because of it), there was chemistry between them, but not that kind of chemistry; they worked well together, as did DDA Bernhard and M.E. Washburn, the four of them had it.

Many kept to this idea while him, 'young, brotherly type' Cho, kept to the greener pastures of his own fantasies, that damned crush; then one day, he bumped onto her as she ran like bat out of hell, or Hall as the situation might me, and the well oiled machine he'd become so accustomed to observing sort of went to hell in a handbasket.

DDA Bernhard started acting wary around the redhead, M.E. Washburn seemed always on guard keeping eye on both young Cindy and DDA Bernhard and Inspector Boxer, well, she just seemed more amused than usual around both lawyer and/or reporter. There was an extra tension between DDA Bernhard and ADA Kwon, which wasn't all that new, but the new awkwardness of ADA Kwon around Boxer and Bernhard was; it was also temporal, by the time ADA Kwon threw a party for her subordinates, it was very much over (hell, by Christmas she was over it). Also over were Cindy Thomas' frequent visits to the bullpen's detention cell, and having seen ADA Kwon, yes Denise Kwon, bail her out, and the expression on both their faces, he had a pretty good idea of why.

In Homicide, they were used to Cindy's 'anonymous tips', other divisions weren't as receptive. That was the world they lived in.

But, he was getting off topic.

Sam, for his friends (Sammy for his brothers and parents), Cho first got a clue of the 'new situation' by the time DDA Bernhard tried to tackle Inspector Boxer in the DA's office's floor; he'd been there to presence the whole show, but wisely decided to stay out of view till the corridor cleared, just in time to bump into the one and only Cindy Thomas coming out of the ADA's office… a smile on her face! Yes, officer Cho was nobody's fool, to say he was shocked was an understatement, but he wasn't blind nor was he stupid. His then cherished crush lend him the insight to what nobody could have predicted:

Cindy Thomas Reporter for the Crime Desk of the 'San Francisco Register' was dating Acting District Attorney Denise Kwon. And had for well over three months, if he was right.

Not that they were hiding it, mind you. If you asked Cho, it was more like nobody wanting to see it; not that he was mentioning any time soon.

So, yes. Officer Cho, who saw more than most, though it was high time he took the Inspector test. He more then deserved it, didn't he?

Authoress' Notes:

An external point of view into C/D. what'd you think? Sammy/Samuel/Sam etc. it's Virtual Season's not cannon cannon, but as cannon as we're ever going to get anymore, nor is it mine. To everyone's their dues.
