Cameron POV
Life at McKinley High was an official nightmare. I had just transferred from a progressional school to the cliché high school divided by cliques
The athletics were mediocre and McKinley had no gymnastic or rowing programs.
I admit I was the buff, athletic type but I was nothing like the facetious and ignorant jocks of McKinley High.
I wanted out.
Well I did until I met the one person who made me want to stay.
Her brightness permeated the permanent darkness that deadened my soul. She was a whirlwind of beauty and argyle and pleated skirts. She gave the appearance of self-involvement but deeply cared for others.
Her effect was not instantaneous. I admit, at first, I found her rather annoying. She chose me as a sort of pet project, which I despised. Yet, soon, her radiant energy began to impress upon a lighter side of myself. She became my source of optimism and joy. She became my best friend.
I loved her.
