December 21st, 11:37pm
Robinson Base, located outside of the ruins of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
......
The stars above her twinkled in the cold night air. It seemed as if they sparkled just as they did back when she was a child, quietly snuggling her her warm blankets while she gazed out her window. She could remember how their brightness would slowly lull her to quiet, blissful sleep...
Dizzy Flores grimaced and tried to suppress the yawn that creeped up on her. It was her turn for late night watch, and falling asleep wasn't particularly something that the Lieutenant would smile upon. With her luck she'd be punished severely... late night watches for weeks... She shook her head and pushed the thought from her mind.
Above her, a figure stood waiting. It leaned over the railing of the wall just a bit as it studied the slow moving trooper below. Careful to stay out of her eyesight, it leaned back again and prepped it's weapon. Private Flores had been a thorn in his side for too long, and now she was going to pay for it.
Dizzy looked around carefully. There was a sly feeling about her, like someone was watching. Taking a deep breath, she cocked her head to one side and listened. Nothing but the chilly night air touched her ears.
Brushing some access snow from her morita, she wondered if the weather was getting to her. She had never been one of much paranoia... well, except for... Dizzy quickly pushed those Pluto memories away as well. She had to keep her head clear.
Shaking her head, Dizzy turned on her heal and continued her patrol.
The figure above watched all this with a wide smile on his face. Oh, yes... She was going to pay.
Aiming his weapon, he waited for the perfect second to fire...
Dizzy perked up again, stopping her walk. She knew something was up. But where...?
Then it was too late. The figure fired.
A moment later, Dizzy's scream filled the vast silence that had once surrounded the base. She clutched the back of her head in pain, falling to her knees. She took a few staggering breaths before slowly removing her hand from her neck. Almost in awe, she looked down at her shaking hand.
It was.... white? As she moved her fingers, the rest of the 'weapon' fell from the back of her head to the already snow covered ground. Dizzy glanced down at the snowball, then jerked her head up as a loud laugh rained down on her from above. A slight growl escaping her throat, she leaped to her feet. Even though he was too far away in his escape run to hear, she cursed the man who had dared throw a snowball at her.
"I'M GOING TO KILL YOU, RICO!!!"
