It's been quiet for a while when her eyes reopen. The pain is slowly subsiding. She can hear birds singing. Her eyes widen as she hears pounding footsteps. Her daughter throws herself into her arms, and Ellen holds on tight. She kisses Jo's forehead, remembering losing her what feels like both just a few minutes ago and an eternity.

As she holds her, she remembers singing to her when she was younger. She's always been a woman of her word. "Damn Demons." They killed them both too soon, but even in the end, she didn't leave her baby.

"Best. Mom. Ever!" Jo squeezes her harder.

Ellen's surprised it doesn't hurt, but nothing hurts any more. Nothing should hurt any more. A familiar voice clears. Ellen looks up, and tears instantly prick her eyes.

"Baby," he croons, a name that would've gotten any other man decked.

Instead, Ellen opens her hug with their daughter, and her heart soars at her husband's embrace. "No mountain high enough."

"To keep me from getting to you," he finishes, beaming, and kisses her. Ellen remembers the pain, the heartache, the sorrow - but it was all worth it to get here and have their family reunited.

The End
