a/n: Now that I actually have a music player that's not filled with stand-up comedy clips and has some actual, cool, music on it, I decided that I'd try the iPod Shuffle Challenge. Since I recently watched Camp Rock, let's see how I do. :)
1. Black Keys
Jason let out a sigh as he stared at her retreating back. Shane laid a hand on his shoulder and Nate clapped him on the back.
"It's okay, man," Nate said. "You tried."
But Jason merely shook his head, because trying wasn't enough. From the first moment she'd flounced up in front of him and smirked into his eyes, he'd known that he wanted her. She was different—confident, almost too much so, and sarcastic. She knew what she wanted. She was prideful. She had gotten inside his mind, despite the fact that he knew it was a bad idea, and he couldn't let her go.
He had always seen the world in perfect, dazzling technicolor, but now everything was just fading to grey. Without Tess, he wasn't sure how he'd ever see anything but black and white.
2. One Man Show
Nate sighed and ran a hand through his hair, sitting back in his chair. It was just impossible.
"You okay, man?" Jason asked. Nate shook his head distractedly and stood up.
"I just need to think," he said. He picked up his jacket and walked out of the room. It was grey and drizzling, but he just put up his collar and stalked down the street, hoping the change of scenery would change his thoughts. But it was no use, her eyes and smirk were dancing around between his ears and wouldn't let go of him. Finally, he pulled out his phone and dialed her number.
"Nate? Whatcha need?"
He sighed. "I don't need you, Cait."
"Oh, Nathan," she laughed. "I'm on my way."
3. Too Cool
Tess smiled tightly as she pried her hand from the guy's grip. "Sorry, but I don't think you understand what I'm getting at. I'm Tess Tyler."
"So?" His eyebrows went up, an innocent look taking over his face and for a second she faltered. "I'm Jason Green. And that girl over there is Mitchie Torres."
"Do I really need to spell it out for you?" she asked.
"What, your name? I think it's pretty self-explanatory," Jason said. "Unless you spell it really weird—"
"No," she said, leaving off the usual idiot that would accompany. "You might be Jason Green, but you're just Jason Green. And that's not enough."
Now he was the one faltering and she wondered why her stomach twisted the way it did. "Oh. I get it."
And he walked away, leaving her feeling a little emptier than the last time her mother had bailed on a 'family dinner.'
