I do not own Fruits Basket or any of the characters in the anime or mange.
Kyo lied on his back, watching the clouds go by. The orange haired teen sighed as he sat up. Kyo jumped to the ground, landing on all fours with cat-like ease. He walked back into the house; not bothering to call out to anyone because he knew no one was there.
For the first time in forever Kyo was home alone. Yuki had some things to do at school, Shigure was out doing who knows what, and Tohru went to the store to get supplies for dinner. The thought of the kind brunette girl brought a smile to Kyo's face.
Kyo looked down at his wrist. The black and white beads that kept him from changing into that…monster almost seemed to be mocking him. He knew that if Tohru was ever to see him in that form, she would never be able to look at him again. How could she?
His mother had killed herself because of that form. His father had cast him aside because of it. The entire Sohma family rejected him because he was the cat of the Zodiac. Everyone always feared and despised the cat. That's how it always was, until her.
Tohru was the first person Kyo ever met who actually said they liked the cat in the Zodiac. At first he had chalked it up to her pretending to be nice, but after he got to know her he actually started to believe it. Tohru never reacted with fear whenever she saw him as a cat. She never made fun of him for being cursed with the cat. Tohru accepted him for who he saw, which was why Kyo feared Tohru seeing his other form so much.
Why would Tohru ever accept his other form? It was hideous, repulsive and retched. No sane person would accept that monster, and Kyo knew it. He would do all he could to keep Tohru from seeing his true form, both for his sake and for hers.
This is set before Tohru sees Kyo in his true form. Tell me if anyone seems out of character. Comment if you like my story.
