Summary: Lucy's reaction to Edmund's arrival at Aslan's camp, starting just before she comes out of the girls' tent that morning.

Author's Note: After writing Edmund's chapter in Gifts, I had the urge to explore Lucy's reactions to Edmund's return to the fold. I haven't decided if I'm going to try any other perspectives for this scene. Let me know if you'd like more? Thanks for reading!

Forgiveness from the Heart

As Lucy came slowly awake, she was happy. She had met Aslan! And He promised that he would do everything he could to help Edmund. In her heart, Lucy knew it was now only a matter of time before Ed was returned to them. She sat up when she heard Susan fidgeting, and they both got up in search of breakfast. When Lucy saw Peter, she was brought up short by the conflicted look on his face. Following his gaze to the hills, Lucy's face lit with joy.

"Edmund!" she cried, and rushed forward—into Peter's restraining arm. Her confusion turned to disappointment when Peter shook his head. Why shouldn't she…oh, but Edmund was with Aslan. Maybe she wasn't supposed to interrupt. She sighed and tried to wait patiently. Maybe Aslan knew what she was thinking, because a few moments after her joyful shout, He and Edmund came down the hill.

They were walking awfully slow, she noticed, and wished they wouldn't; it gave her time to think. She was happy to have Ed back safely away from the White Witch, but what now? She had always trusted Peter's judgment, but now that Ed was back, would she be forced to leave Narnia? And what was her oldest brother thinking that made his face so dark? Lucy looked imploringly at Aslan, silently begging for guidance.

Edmund stopped several feet away, and Lucy felt that she must wait. Again.

"Here is your brother. There is no need to speak to Edmund about what is passed." Aslan stated.

Lucy's heart leapt in her chest—Aslan as good as said that everything was alright!

"Hullo," Edmund said quietly. His hesitant, remorseful look was all the apology Lucy needed; she rushed forward to hug her brother.
