This is a 200 word drabble that I wrote for a contest at The Hideaway. If you would like more information about that-it's all in my bio.

The contest was to write a 200 word drabble about a HP character receiving flowers and it must include a feather. Leave a review and let me know how I did.

Disclaimer: I don't own any of it...not even the idea!

"Prongs, mate, just give it up. She's never going to go out with you."

"Really, I think it would be best if you just left her alone for a while. Or at least came up with something more original…like poppies, or a feather…"

"What would Lily want with a feather?"

"Well I don't know, but it seems more inventive than a bunch of lilies."

But James gave them to her anyway. His friends were right.

"James Potter!" Lily Evans yelled across the busy common room. "You egotistical ball of slime! Couldn't you come up with something more original?"

She waved the bouquet of lilies in the air and glared at the dark haired boy on the other side of the room.

He had attached a note that read, To the prettiest lily of them all.

It was corny, he knew, and he fully expected her to throw it away like all the other notes he had ever given her. But for the first time, she didn't. The flowers too, were kept.

Years later when they were married, James asked Lily what it was that had first made her heart soften towards him. She smiled as she told him.

"The lilies."
