Josh's eyes started to slide shut and he began to wonder how much he really cared about HR 417 and how much better it would be if he just slid this under all the other things he had to read and got Chinese food instead, maybe get some sleep. Maybe Donna would call and have Chinese delivered to his apartment, meaning that he could eat and then sleep-

It was dark. And he couldn't see.

He blinked a few times, thinking maybe it was because he was just that damn tired.

"DONNA!"

"Yes, Josh?"

"I can't see."

"Because the power went out."

"The power went out in the White House?"

"No, Josh, this is actually a sick mind game and you're going blind."

"I sign your paychecks."

"No you don't.

"Will you please just see what is going on?"

Josh watched as Donna left, wondering when he started having daydreams about his assistant. It was Donna. Then he remembered how nice she looked in that ball gown and how nice she smelled in the cab.

That goober, Jack what-ever-his-name-was-but-it-didn't-matter-because-he-didn't-have-the-diplomatic-ranking-of-a-five-star-general, didn't deserve her. She lied for him, put her job in danger all for this jerk, who didn't even return his call. In retrospect, it was probably better he hadn't, because Leo would have had a fit if Josh had given that guy a piece of his mind.

Donna looked good in that ball gown.

"JOSH!"

"Gah!" Josh slipped out of his reverie, and his chair. "What the hell, CJ?"

CJ smirked, satisfied by Josh's reaction. "Took you long enough. What were you thinking about?"

"Nothing! Nothing. What's up?"

"Do you know why the power's out?"

"No, I sent Donna to find out."

"Shouldn't the White House be on a generator?"

"The nucleus of the US government? Nah…"

CJ smiled, at least, he was pretty sure it was a smile. He couldn't really see, after all.

"I'm going to go try to find out what's going on here and hopefully get the lights back on. And Josh?"

"Yeah?"

"The next time you start daydreaming about your assistant, pay more attention to when people come in, OK?"
