Disclaimer: born on the day of earthquakes does not own DRRR ! !
A/N: This can also serve as a prompt (so alert me if someone knows of a similar story and I'll go read it!). I wanted to read something about Izaya and him drinking truth serum, but I can't find something that'd satisfy me so here's something I made. I was trying out present form of story telling too, since I usually use past tense in my stories. :D
Spoilers are included in this fanfiction. You have been warned.
Information and Truth Serum
Oneshot
Izaya blinks. And then he begins laughing.
"This is really interesting~" he says. He stares at the spoon he's holding, which has contained an odd sweet liquid he just drank, and then shifted his dark red eyes to the face of one broadly smiling underground doctor. "I've always thought that you'd drug me, Shinra. But may I ask what this is?"
"Truth serum," the doctor says happily.
Izaya raises his eyebrows. "You do know that there are many things that should not be done. I hold so many secrets, you know."
"Yes, I know!" Shinra says. Clasping his hands together, he continues, "I'm just wondering what this wonderful drug has effect on you. How do you feel?"
"I feel a little light headed," Izaya immediately replies. He frowns, his eyes looking Shinra up and down. "I hate the fact that you always wear that lab coat of yours. It makes you look like your father."
"How mean!" Shinra yells. "I don't look like my father at all. He's a weirdo and I'm not."
Suddenly, the door to the room opens and a certain female enters.
"Ah, Celty~" the doctor sings his beloved's name. "How the deli—?"
"I have your head, Celty."
There is a moment of silence. The room darkens with the black fog from the female.
The dullahan types on her phone. 'What's the meaning of this, Izaya?'
"I already told you," Izaya says, his smile still on his face. It's really seldom to see the information broker without his smile on. "I'm holding on to your head. I'm also planning to start a war here in Ikebukuro so that—"
"H-Happy April Fools!" Shinra suddenly yells and laughs awkwardly. "Did we fool you, Celty?"
The darkness in the room receeds. 'Oh,' Celty types. 'But that's a really bad thing to say, Izaya.'
"But I'm not..." Izaya leaps out of the way when Shinra attempts to put a hand over the informant's mouth. "... Shinra, your hand stinks so don't put it on my face."
Shinra sniffs his palms. "Oh, you're right..."
Celty shakes her head. If she can sigh, she already did. 'I'll leave for a spin, Shinra.'
Izaya raises his hands childishly. "If you see Shizu-chan, tell him I really, really hate him, okay? And that tobacco's really bad for his health so he should continue smoking and just die."
Celty nods absently before closing the door behind her.
But a thought occurs to her. Is it really April Fool's day? She shrugs and gets on her bike, focused on leaving the apartment to cool her confused mind. Seriously, she doesn't know when to believe the informant or not.
