Armin's feet felt the hot sand for the first time. He wiggled his toes into the tiny rocks and giggled. He saw the water ahead and ran towards it. The sun was up as it was the afternoon. As he reached the shallow end of the water, he rolled up his pants up to his knee in a badly folded scrunch. He didn't care, for he had a whole new world to explore. He went as far as he could go without getting his pants wet. The sand here felt different. It didn't feel like mud, but it was more of a rocky-mush type feeling. It was wonderful. He looked at all the giant ripples and laughed to himself.
"So this is what it's like," he said in amazement. It took him a while to notice that his jeans had rolled down and into the ocean. Again, he didn't care. In fact, he liked it so much that he let himself fall into the ocean. He laughed once more and swam around a bit. The water was pushing against him as he was swimming, and it felt like he was living in a fantasy. He noticed that the water got deeper with every stroke. Armin tried to stand up and realized the water was too deep for his height, so he swam back to shore. He found it easy with the help of the water pushing him. A smile never left his cheery face, and his eyes sparkled as he lay back with his short, blond hair flowing through the water.
A moment later, and he felt curious. "I wonder…" He cupped some of the ocean water in his hand and drank it. Regretting his decision, he spit the water out, coughing a bit and wiping his mouth. "I guess it really is salty." He walked back to the shore. His wet clothes were heavy and uncomfortable. Walking on the tiny rocks made it feel like he was slipping, but he wasn't. Now sitting, he looked back at his feet. He smiled as he saw all the wet sand trapped on them. "I love you ocean, and all your tiny minions."
Armin noticed something in the distance. It looked like a rock, but it was more decorative and colorful. He got up and walked a bit closer to it. He poked it gently with his foot and flipped it over to see that it had a hole in it. He was surprised. It was completely empty. "They're beautiful," he muttered. He picked up another one and studied it closely. He noticed this one was wider and had ridges at the end. It was also a light shade of pink, almost white. Turning it around, he saw that the hole in this one was just as big as the other side of it. "Fascinating!" he shouted with excitement. He picked up one that looked like a swirl and one that had a pointy end to it. Oh, the variations were endless! To know that there were more to rocks than dull round things! Some were white with brown spots, some had auburn-looking ridges, some were yellow, and some were even green! This became Armin's favorite activity. Looking at all these glorious rocks made him want to show them off. He collected all he could carry and ran back home to show his friends.
The sun was going down as Armin arrived with a grin from ear to ear. He placed the rocks in front of Mikasa and Eren. He stood straight up with his hands on his hips and had a proud look on his face. "Sorry you guys couldn't make it. It was amazing." He continued to explain all of what he saw to his friends. He told them of the sand that stuck to your feet if they were wet. He told them of the water that pushes and pulls you just about anywhere. He even laughed as he told Eren about the salty water.
Looking up, Armin realized that it was already dark. He got up and dusted his damp and wrinkly pants off. "I'll see you guys tomorrow, I need to head back. I'll give you more of those beautiful rocks when I go back to the ocean. You guys can keep those ones." He took a few steps and looked back at his friends. "I miss you guys…" A few tears fell from his face. "I know it's been a while, but it feels like you left me just yesterday." He took a deep breath, and with that, he walked back home.
