Hello, first attempt at angst. Man this sucks. Nuriko's last thoughts are an overkilled subject, but mine is kinda original. It's a letter Nuriko might have written to Miaka before he left for Mount Black, so it may not count as his last thoughts… Oh well…
Review please???????????
The Last Letter
Nuriko finished writing the last kanji of his letter, and signed it off with a flourish. He rolled it up, gave it a once over to check for any spelling mistakes.
-------------------------------------------------
Dear Miaka,
Miaka-chan, this is probably the last letter I'll ever write to you. You must remember that no matter what happens to me or any other seishi, you must continue with your quest for the shinzaho.
As the Suzaku no Miko, you have braved endless perils, and many more hardships will assault you in the months ahead. However, I believe that you will be strong enough to overcome them all, especially with us by your side.
But have you wondered what will happen if one of us wasn't here? If that happens, you must be strong and continue. None of us would leave you without a reason, none of us would let our flames be extinguished unless it was to let yours burn brighter.
Miaka, I want you to know that I hope you'll be happy with Tama-chan. He's not exactly bright, but he loves you Miaka-chan, and don't you forget that. I guess that even I have grown to like you a lot since we first met. You're like another younger sister to me Miaka, maybe even more…
I'm leaving to find the shinzaho on top of mount black. It's crazy, and it may be suicidal, but I feel Suzaku calling me, telling me to go…
If I don't return, tell Tasuki that he should lay off the sake, and tell Chichiri to pal up with Tasuki a bit since he's not going to have me to gossip with. Tell Tamahome that you're more important than money, and tell Chiriko that he can use my old bow set when he gets back to Konan. Tell Mitsukake not to overexert himself healing people, and tell Hotohori-sama that I'm sorry I couldn't protect you all the way.
Miaka, Ganbatte yo!
Even though I may not be here in body, I'll always be with you in spirit… Even though not all of us may be on earth, we'll still always be the Suzaku Eight – Seven Seishi and their miko. Eight Suzaku's forever.
I'll always be with you Miaka…
Sayonara…
Love,
Nuriko.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nuriko rolled the letter up, and placed it on the mantle piece in his room, over the bright cheery fire.
There. If I come back I'll be able to hide it before they read it, and if I don't they'll be sure to see it.
A sad smile crossed the seishi's face.
Sayonara, Miaka, Minna.
He put on his bracelets and shut the door.

A draft blew up from the closing of the door. It lifted up the last letter of the Suzaku Shichi Seishi Nuriko, and gently deposited it into the fire beneath.
The letter was ash in a matter of seconds.

"NURIKO~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~!"
