Singing in the Rain (Nick Jonas one shot for SimpleLullaby)
"Alright Beth, I'll talk to you later." I told my friend hanging up my cell phone. I was sitting on a park bench, just as the sun was setting with my guitar. I continued strumming when I felt a few rain drops on my arm fall from the sky. I didn't remember the weather station calling for rain, but then again when are the news people ever correct? The drizzle ceased and I continued strumming. My friends have told me I was a good singer, but I never believed them. There wasn't anyone around so it wouldn't matter if I was horrible or not.
(Fireflies)...Cause I'd get a thousand hugs, with ten thousand lightning bugs as they try to teach me how to dance...
"Wow, that was phenomenal!" a male voice approached me. "Thanks." I pushed my hair behind my ear, blushing. He sat next to me on the bench, "I'm Nick, Nick Jonas and you are?" he extended his hand out. "Meghan Smitz, nice to meet you." I smiled at his appearance, the striking gorgeous brown curls in the sunset, "I love your music." I blurted out. "Thanks, so you're a fan?" I nodded, "A huge fan." "I'm astonished. You're a fan and you didn't faint or scream or attack me yet." Nick started. "I'm normal...not all of your fans are crazy and obsessed, Nick." I explained. "The ones I met are, but you're an exception." He smiled. "And all boys are mindless and insensitive, but you're an exception." I joke back. "Well thank you for that." Nick chuckled. "So, what other instruments do you play?" he asked me. "Just the guitar but I write music too." I explained. "Sing me something you wrote, I'd love to hear it." He asked. "Okay..." I started singing...
...What if, what if, what if?
I lose in the end
What if I look back and see
that this was my last chance
I don't want any regrets
I don't want to pretend
What if, what if, what if?
I walk away from my last chance...
Nick looked speechless, "Wow...just wow." "Is that a good wow or a bad wow?" I ask. "A good wow." He smiled, "You are amazing!" "Really, thanks" I felt rain again, but this time it was pouring. "Oh, no." I started laughing as Nick grabbed my hand and my guitar in the other as we ran across the street into a small café. "How many?" a hostess asked. "Two." Nick answered. We sat down and looked at the menu's, "I think i'm gonna get scrambled eggs, you? Nick asked. "Oh, i'm not really hungry." I answered. The waitress came over, "What can I get you to love birds?" "Oh, we're not..." I started and Nick cut in, "Two cups of coffee and 2 orders of scrambled eggs." "Alright, back in a jiff." The lady walked away closing the book. I gave him a questionable look, "What?" he smirked. I shook my head, "Nothing." I smiled. We did some small talk and the food showed up. When the check came, I reached into my pocket to take out money; Nick already had ten dollars on the table. It was still raining, Nick decided to walk me home, and we exchanged phone numbers. "Meghan?" he asked. "Yeah?" "Would it be okay if i kissed you?" I nodded. His lips crashed into mine as the rain came down. I love the rain.
