Title: Cabin Fever
Author: Katydidit
Rating: G (or K or wtf ever the new ratings are)
Spoilers: Not much. Kind of Mr. Monk Gets Cabin Fever-ish, but it doesn't mention any episode.
AN: Not mine. Never mine. But Christmas is coming.
If he stayed in this cabin any longer, he was going to go crazy. Granted, there were those that would say that he'd already gone there and come back, but he just wouldn't go there. He'd been in the cabin for less than half a day, but he was already beginning to twitch. Being enclosed within the unfamiliar walls, with the unfamiliar objects and the unfamiliar clutter was getting the better of him, and everyone knew it.
The only thing keeping him in the vicinity of 'sane' was Natalie. Even though she'd recently decided that he was the prince of darkness (despite his vacuuming habits), he knew that without her, he would not be keeping it together so well. Her presence had a calming effect on him—he had accepted the fact that nothing would 'cure' him, but when she was near, he could begin to feel almost normal again. He knew that germs still existed, but there because he knew she was nearby with a clean wipe or a gentle touch, he was able to slowly let go of this fact. (Emphasis on slowly, as he still found himself worrying).
As if on cue—the woman's talents were uncanny—Natalie walked into the room (as much as it could be called a room) and sat n a chair opposite him, watching him carefully. "How're you, Mr. Monk?" She asked, suspecting that she already knew the answer.
"Not as bad as I could be," he answered honestly, and could tell that he'd shocked her. An approving little smile found its way across her face, though, and she nodded.
"That's good to hear," she yawned, then smiled sheepishly. "Look, it's been a long day, and unless you need me, I guess I'm going to go to bed..." She stood but hesitated in her doorway, probably to be sure that he wasn't going to call her back. He merely waved her away with a smile and a murmured 'Sleep well,' and he was again left in his own thoughts.
If they didn't leave soon, he'd go crazy, and it wouldn't be just because of the cabin.
