Let it Be

He leaned in to kiss her, their first kiss. Their lips were millimetres apart… when the phone rang… ..Tony & Kate..
A/N: This here is my attempt at a solution to all those situations where a moment is interruped... enjoy!
Kate Todd walked down the hallway nervously, very much aware of the man following only a step or two behind her. He seemed just as nervous as she did, but was trying to hide it with his dazzling smile.
She stopped outside a door – her apartment door, as it happened – and turned to him. They just looked at each other for a few seconds, waiting for the other to speak.
It was Kate who spoke first. "Would you like to come in, Tony?" She asked him, reaching out slowly and taking his hand.
Tony nodded, relaxing slightly at her touch. "Yeah, I'd like that." He managed to say.
Kate smiled, before squeezing his hand gently. She turned back to the door, and unlocked it. She went inside, and he followed her. Once upon a time, Kate had told Tony that there was a reason why he'd never know her home address… but there he was. Standing in the middle of her apartment after their first date. And it was just like he thought it would be. It fit her personality in every possible way.
Kate watched Tony look around in amazement. He was probably thinking the same thing she was – how on earth did he manage to get to where he was now? Well, they would have been a better word to describe it. How on earth did they manage to get to where they were now? Tony never expected Kate to accept his dinner invitation… and Kate never expected Tony to ask her to go out to dinner with him.
Blocking out her thoughts, Kate walked over to Tony. "Would you like a glass of wine?"
"Sure," He said, smiling his dazzling smile at her.
Kate went into the kitchen, and returned with two glasses of red wine. Tony was sitting on the sofa. She went and sat next to him, and handed him his glass. They talked to each other, and shared more intimate details of their lives with each other… details that they wouldn't have shared if they were 'only co-workers'. But they had long since crossed that line.
Two hours later, the bottle had been finished, and the glasses had been abandoned. Kate was snuggled up to Tony, and they sat together comfortably. She looked up at him – to make sure he hadn't fallen asleep – only to discover that he was looking down at her, an intense look in his eyes. Kate swallowed nervously, wondering if he was thinking about kissing her. He ran his fingers gently through her hair, before holding the back of her head softly. And then slowly, very slowly, Tony pulled her closer to him. He leaned in to kiss her, their first kiss. Kate's heart was beating wildly in her chest. It was then that she realised just how much she wanted it… wanted him. Their lips were millimetres apart… when the phone rang.
Kate looked over in the direction of the ringing phone, suddenly wondering why she hadn't disconnected it earlier. Sighing, she went to move off the sofa to answer it, but Tony stopped her.
"Don't." He breathed.
"But-"
"Let the damn phone ring." Tony said, pulling Kate back down to him. She grinned, before closing the distance between their lips.
The phone went unanswered that night.
