disclaimer: I do not own Susan Ee's BAMF imagination.

[the ballerina]
By day, she is Penryn Young, a dancer at the Paris Opera. She wakes up at the crack of dawn every day and dances until her feet bleed.
By night, she is anyone she needs to be. Some nights, she is Ryn-Ryn, a loving sister and a patient daughter. Some nights, when Paige needs a doctor or when rent is due, she is a nameless face that waits in the Opera's foyer for gentlemen with fat wallets and greedy hands.
She is always cold and tired and hungry, but that is okay; Mama and Paige aren't.
She gets by, and in a world where dog eats dog, getting by is enough.
a/n: West of Eden is going to be a collection of random-ass ideas about Angellfall that I am attempting to formulate into something halfway intelligible. Perhaps some will even morph into full-fledged fics.
This first very, very short AU drabble was inspired by Marie, Dancing by Carolyn Meyer, a re-imagining of the life of Marie van Goethem, the subject of Edgar Degas' iconic sculpture. I may play around with this idea later on.
Also, my author's note probably is longer than the actual content. Sorry, not sorry.
