A/N: Just a short little drabble about Cloud's light. Slight mentions of Leon/Cloud

Simple Denial

Brown hair kept falling in his eyes.

Those eyes.

Dark pools of thunder. Twin storms, divided by a diagonal scar.

Sometimes he cursed those eyes for being so piercing, so all knowing.

It was like they penetrated his mind, his very being.

Like they somehow scanned the dark dephts of his soul.

Like they knew his inner, most kept secrets.

He felt vulnerable under that gaze.

Stripped.

That's why everytime those eyes met his, he had to fight an inner battle not to rip his own away.

That's why it was far more easy to look into that other pair of eyes. The ones that only confronted him with mild concern and love.

When they locked gazes, he never once felt like running away. All he felt was this soothing comfort.

A comfort that reminded him of his mothers warm arms, rocking him gently to sleep, while whispering words of love found their way to his tired ears.

Looking into those glittering emeralds made him feel happy. Content.

They did not make him feel like the eyes of a certain dark haired swordsman did, scared shitless and intimidated.

They did not make him feel like slicing the bearer of those eyes with the deathly edge of his Buster sword.

Still.

Once those gloomy eyes met his, all he wanted to was to lose himself in them. To let them shield him from his dark past, from every bloodstained memory.

He just wanted to let his fingers run over the scar cutting its way across that beautiful face. Let his hands run through those brown spikes and feel the softness under his palms.

And still.

He kept looking at her.

Taking comfort in the way she looked at him.

Knowing it was wrong to fool her like that, but far more simple.

Far more easy than admitting to himself that despite the feeling of utter hopelessness he felt inside, he had a light.

A light named Squall Leonheart.

Leon.
