thoughts of an empty mind

A/N: More Naruto, Sakura, and Sasuke madness. In the form of drabbles. AKA no theme, no plot, no evident correlation.

I keep getting left behind.

This thought echoed in his head, like angry butterflies against a setting sun, rewinding each time it reached the period.

His head hurt when he'd try to make it go away, so he tried to make it verbal one time.

"I keep getting left behind," he said. He waited for the other person to comment on this.

But no one ever said anything, because the person staring back at him was himself – a glassy reflection of aqua eyes, golden hair, six whisker strokes, and a sad look.

He continued. "I keep feeling like – even though no one really ever means to – at least I think not – people keep leaving me behind – like once they're done using me – (first my parents – then Sasuke – then Sakura and Kakashi) – they throw me to the ground – away from them – and just stare at me like it's nothing – and I get left behind."

There wasn't any response, as expected.

He sighed and turned away from the mirror.

Jiraiya came by and announced that he was leaving now, that Naruto should not follow him and just stay here for a few days practicing his newly developed version of the Rasengan, and be a good boy. Of course.

"Where are you going now?"

It took all he had to not blurt out, "Let me come with you!" but it seemed his eyes pleaded so anyway.
