She was in sweats and a baggy sweat shirt.
Alec was out of town.
She just had Sophie taken from her motherly arms.
The call had come earlier that day.
The call that told her that Sophie's parents were ready to take her back.
In just three days... three days and Sophie would officially be hers, but no. The parents turned around and decided that they wanted her back.
Her usually perfect mascara was running all down her face.
He hair was in a messy bun.
She had been crying ever since she got the call.
Her house was a mess.
She looked disgusting.
He was on his way.
.:.
Cal had been sitting at his desk, looking over some boring files when Gillian called and told him.
She hadn't told him until Sophie was actually taken away. He could have been there for her earlier.
It was a Saturday, so she wasn't coming in.
He had rushed to his car and to her house the second she hung up. He had actually started running to his car when he heard her sniffle.
He was speeding down the road for what seemed like forever. Eager to be there for his best friend. The woman that he loved.
He barged through the door, as if he was ready to kill somebody.
She was sitting on the couch, her legs pulled up to her chest and her face buried in her legs.
She shook with sadness as the tears came.
She looked up at him, her face red. She stood up and he walked to her, wrapping his strong arms around her body.
They sat down on the couch and she ended up pulling her legs back up and leaning into him, her head on his chest.
He kept his arms around her, rubbing her back lightly and rested his head on hers, "Sh..." He whispered slightly.
An hour later - at the least - she stopped crying and looked at him with a weak smile, "I look horrible."
"You look beautiful." He whispered back.
She shook her head and said, "I'm sorry."
"Why would you be sorry?" He asked, almost mad.
"For making you come out here."
"I came out of my own choice." He returned.
She shook her head again and said, "I..."
"Needed me, so I came. Alec wasn't here. Gillian. Don't be sorry." He brushed her hair from her face and wiped some of the runny mascara with his thumb.
"I need to take a shower. I look horrible." She repeated, pulling away from his safe arms.
He pulled her back into him and shook his head, "No. You look just fine."
"I don't want you to see me like this." She whispered.
That's how it happened the night that it happened. He came and comforted her. Then she had insisted that she didn't look good enough and made him leave. He obeyed her and left. But not tonight. It was going to change.
This happened every year. On the anniversary of Sophie's leaving. Gillian was overwhelmed with sadness, and Cal would always be there for her.
Alec was always on a conference that came around that time... every. Damn. Year.
Even after she was divorced, Cal only held her for a while and then left without anything more.
Wel not this year.
He took hold of her chin, pulling it towards him. He laid his lips on hers. It was a soft, gentle, and slow kiss. It lasted a couple seconds and then he pulled away, staring at her.
She was single. She was needy.
She had loved him for so long.
She had wanted a true kiss from him for so long.
She laid her hands on his cheeks and pulled him in for another kiss, "Thank you." She whispered once he pulled away.
A/N: Haha... I don't know where this came from, but BAM!
