Once upon a time there was a scruffy dog who fell in love with a small delicate bird that had yet to spread her wings. Unfortunately the poor bird had become infatuated with a young happy-go-lucky fox. So the pup watched as the bird hid in tree staring longingly at the fox who in turn lavished attention onto a rather aggressive candy colored cat. Each day this would continue the two watching the grinning fox preen the cat till she turned up her nose and arrogantly stalked away. She would then walk to the pond were the lone dark wolf drank. She did all she could to satisfy him but he sneered at her for futile attempts at his attention had been made before. One day the wolf disappeared never to return to the pond. Soon inevitably the cat spiraled into depression. Not wanting to see her troubled so the fox set out a once on a mission to retrieve the wolf sacrificing his own happiness for his beloveds. Faithfully the bird followed behind him hoping to be of some use to him. Never knowing the disheartened dog trailed behind her. And so the search continued to the ends of the earth and beyond. What none of them knew was the wolf had died long ago died, buried by the side of the road in an unmarked grave. Still to this day the fox chases a wolf that shall forever evade him. The dog pursues the bird who watches the chase wistfully from her perch in the branches. Day in and day out the cat forever sings her tale of lost love to the waters that that once touched the lips of her hollowed haunting prince.
So it is the Circle of Sadness.
