She was standing there with the rest of her cabin. They had just walked into the Big House. She looked nervous, but at the same time, excited and hopeful. It was New Years, and Chiron and Mr. D always threw big parties for New Years. But this time, he was going to be there.
He was standing there, looking very awkward indeed. He looked over to the Athena cabin, and saw her. His face instantly lit up.
She looked over and saw him looking at her. She walked over to him, and punched him in the arm. "What are you doing, looking at…well, what were you looking at, Seaweed Brain?"
Percy cleared his throat, and then finding a sudden interest in the ground, mumbled something. He looked up nervously at Annabeth, waiting for an answer.
"What did you say? I didn't really hear you…" Annabeth shouted above the noise.
Percy cleared his throat again, and this time, asked, distinctly, "May I have this dance?" He then turned his face to the floor, and began studying his feet.
Annabeth almost cried out with joy. This was something that she had been looking forward to, since Chiron announced that they would have a party. But she contained herself, and then looking at Percy still studying his feet, grabbed his hand roughly, and pulling him to the middle of the dance floor, began dancing.
Percy, startled at first, began to move with her, and soon, they were dancing like crazy. When a slow song came on, they were still there dancing.
Annabeth moved closer to Percy, and Percy held her tight. Then Annabeth did something that surprised him. She began to slowly wrap her arms around his neck, and then leaning in, pressed her lips against his.
Percy hesitant at first, slowly began to move his lips with hers. Then breaking apart, he leaned against her forehead, and whispered, "This was the best night of my life."
Annabeth smiled and nodded. She then took her head, and placing it on Percy's shoulder, continued to dance with him.
