He was dead. Of this he was almost positive, but it was dark very dark. He wondered where he was if he was not dead. But he wondered what had gotten him killed in the first place. All he remembered was waking up to a loud bang and what felt like the worst static shock of his life. He remembered his name being spoken, then every thing going black.
His eyes opened, no this couldn't be right if he was dead how did he have a body? This body felt different, it was taller, it had more body mass. Not fat though, it was muscle. He was on a cold surface. It was still dark even thought his eyes were opened. There were torch lights periodically, and it was a circular room.
He heard three voices, all were feminine and raspy.
"Good he is awake." One said,
"Will he remember?" Another asked,
"He does not need to." A third replied,
He stood up, and looked down, he was in a blue shirt a leather jacket, and dark jeans. He looked back up to see three cloaked and withered old ladies. The fates.
"Ah you have woken up, child" The one on the left said.
"Where am I? And why am I here?" He asked,
"You are Nowhere. You are here because we have an offer to make" The middle one said,
"And what would that be?" He asked,
"Life, a new one" The left one said,
"A new family, not one that is trying to get you killed." The right one said,
Then the memories flooded in. His name was Percy Jackson, he had been sent on a suicide mission by the Hecta-Olympian council, he had almost been killed, he had been saved. By the αψεγάδιας, it had saved him, healed him, and brought him here. But why, to offer it a family? The αψεγάδιας must have had another intention, an additional motive. What though? What could the αψεγάδιας possibly have to gain from helping Percy. Then he made up his mind and though of an old saying "Never look a gift horse in the mouth"
"I accept." Percy said,
"Really? Because we had a whole speech prepared, and everything." One of the Fates said,
"I accept, the gods have already tried to kill me once, to return to camp would be a death sentence." Percy said,
"Good because there are a few things that you need to do in order to become a Wraith, also there is stuff you need to know." Another Fate said,
"Like what" the middle Fate said,
"Like your new powers and equipment, as well as a new name that you will want to make for yourself" The left Fate said,
"You need a new identity to go with your new family, being as that is the easiest you will do that first." The right fate said,
"A new name, I will be serving under the Raven correct? If I serve the Raven, I shall become, Κοράκι, the Crow" Percy said,
"As for your powers, every Wraith will be given a power opposite to your own, each power will be refined as you attain more control over them through training." One of the Fates said,
"Once you have completed your weapons training, you will be issued a first lieutenant's jacket (as you are the only lieutenant), you will be the second highest ranking officer in the Wraiths. Second, of course, to their Captain. The αψεγάδιας. " the Fate in the middle said.
"When will I begin training?" Percy asked,
"It begins now" A familiar low, yet not growling voice said, it was the αψεγάδιας. And It had gotten an upgrade.
The αψεγάδιας's new armor was way cooler. Percy liked it a lot more than its old armor, and Percy loved the old armor. It was much more modern, it had more leather, and kevlar in it. Over all it was less bulky and slightly more form fitting, not completely but more form fitting. Also, Percy noticed, don't the back there were no sheathes for the swords. They were just attached to its back, like magnets, the hood was more covering. But the mask stayed the same though, it was the same metal mask, that covered the lower half of its face.
They had somehow been taken to a meadow, somewhere. It was empty.
"Before I teach you how to control or use your powers, you need to learn to use a katar, this will be an educational training session. I will train you so that you are on par with the Raven's guard on the terms of skill." The αψεγάδιας said,
The αψεγάδιας snapped it's fingers and a katar appeared in Percy's hand. It was a beautiful 10 inch long blade with a icy blue blade, but the area inside was black. So the honed edge was ice, and the inner part of the leaf shaped blade was black.
"Let us begin" the αψεγάδιας said, then dashed forwards.
They trained for three hours straight, the αψεγάδιας was not joking about the learning in the session, Percy had already become much better with the katar. The way it train was it would perform the same move twice in succession. The first was to allow Percy to get to know the move, the second was for Percy to counter the move. After every first move Percy learned the move, as well as how and when to use it, then on the repeat of that move Percy leaned how to stop that move. Percy didn't know what was causing him to learn fast, whether it was the αψεγάδιας or the fates. In the end he decided to take up to his new motto and Never look a gift horse in the mouth.
