Storms
Thunder cracked threateningly around the castle, leaving flashes of light in the Gryffindor dorms. It was third year and Remus was still afraid of thunder and lighting. When Remus was attacked by Grey back during a dark stormy night, the memories of his mother's face seeing him laying outside covered in blood haunted his mind.
The other boys were sleeping peacefully in their respective beds while Remus shook under his warm blankets; he found no comfort this night. Sirius was having a wonderful dream, in his dream he was chasing Remus through a field. This was a normal dream for him and the ending was always the same. He always woke up before catching him. This night Sirius woke to the sounds of someone quietly crying in the dark dorm. Getting out of bed with a sigh, he located the crier.
"Remus are you okay?" Sirius asked still half asleep.
Remus was embarrassed but shook his head no in the dark room. A flash of lighting lit up his face.
"Move over I'm crawling in," said Sirius
Remus moved over and Sirius crawled into the bed. After he tucked them both into the warm bed, Sirius held Remus and comforted him from the storm. Remus finally felt a bit better, Sirius was good and didn't make Remus feel embarrassed about his fears.
"Thank you" said Remus.
"Remus why are you so scared?"
"When I was attacked it was during a storm" Remus' voice cracked but before he could go on Sirius hushed him and nodded to show understanding. The boys layed there in silence for a few minutes until Sirius finally spoke up.
"Remus I have to tell you something"
Sirius looked scared and Remus could see the internal battle Sirius was fighting as he started with his confession.
"I love you Rem… more than I should"
It took Remus a minute to realise what his friend was saying. This information wasn't surprising, the boys were always together and shared secrets no one in the group knew. They also were told they argue like an old married couple. Remus had always have a crush on Sirius but didn't think he was worthy of anyone's love especially a pureblood's. He smiled at his friend and snuggled up closer.
"I love you too Sirius, also a little more than I should" Remus said with a chuckle.
Sirius was shocked, he expected Remus to yell at him or hit him. Another loud thunder rolled by but Remus didn't shake. He finally felt safe in Sirius' arms. In the darkness of the night hidden by the curtains, Sirius kissed Remus.
That night the boys shared their first kiss and storms never scared Remus again.
