Chapter One: Across the Room
Those bright blue eyes were the first thing she noticed about Carol Aird. On the day they met they drew her in, captivated her, made her heart flutter. And now, as she stood in this restaurant, they were drawing her in again.
Their eyes locked, Carol's painted lips caught mid-smile, only growing slowly as she noticed Therese. The bright blonde-haired woman slowly stood, the men in her company staring up, confused.
Her hand, a hand that had given Therese so much pleasure, slowly slid along the table as she made her way around it. Their eyes stayed locked, and the brunette's heart started to pound. She didn't really know why she had travelled here, having no intention at first. But the words that had been in her mind all night since Carol had taken her leave from the restaurant they had agreed to meet at, those three sweet, forbidden words, raced around her mind.
Before Therese could process what was happening, Carol was in front of her, her voice a mere whisper.
"You came, my love." Her blue eyes soften, her smile warm.
Therese mutely nods, her words having escaped her.
"Come with me to the restroom dear," she whispers again, turning to her friends. "We'll be just a moment." She takes the younger girl's wrist, gently leading her, her touch soft, gentle, just as it was the first night they made love.
Therese's breath hitches, she can't control her heartbeat, barely able to breathe. She weakly swallows, just wanting to engulf the taller woman in her arms and never let go, but her mind isn't letting her, her body not cooperating.
Carol pushes open the door of the women's restroom, pulling her in, locking the door, making sure no one else is present, having become paranoid since their first night together, due to the following events.
Suddenly Therese's lips are on Carol's, finally willing herself to do something. The blonde's hands are in her hair, desperately pulling her closer, tears falling on the smaller girl's cheeks, Carol pouring all her pent-up emotion into the kiss.
The older woman's chest is tight with emotion, having convinced herself she would never feel her lover's lips upon hers again. Her heart was going mad, as mad as a jazz band in a shitty bar. She wraps an arm around her lover's waist, pulling her closer, feeling her breath hitch against her lips. It was intoxicating, the way the brunette felt against her, how their bodies melded together like two puzzle pieces meant to be.
"Oh, how I've missed you, my angel," Carol whispers, voice full of love as she nuzzles the girl's cheek, trying to keep from crying further.
Therese's hand slowly reaches up, wiping away the tears with a soft touch, nose pressing to her lover's as she fights back a sob.
"Come home with me, Therese."
"But your friends –,"
"Pardon my language, my dear, but fuck them, now come, let's go." She hugs her once more before leading her out, waving goodbye to her friends without another word, hand firm around Therese's wrist, not wanting to risk ever letting go of her lover ever again.
