Summary: "I told you to knock..."

Genre: Humour/Light Romance

Enjoy!

It was not an unusual sight to see, or rather hear the pair verbally duelling. In fact the residents of the city of Atlantis would have been more concerned if they hadn't been fighting. It was not out of hate or spite that the perpetual battle went on between them but more out of affection and a desire to stay sane. Cut off from earth once again by the depletion of their ZPM the people of the city were finding it hard to cope. Not that Colonel John Sheppard and Rodney McKay wouldn't fight anyway but the frequency with which they engaged had noticeably increased recently.

"Sheppard I'm telling you this is a bad idea, you don't know what you're doing" this came from the mouth of Rodney McKay as he once again tried to reason with the man walking down the corridor.

"Oh come on McKay this is important, Elizabeth would want to know"

"Look, Carson ordered her to her quarters for a reason, the stress is seriously affecting her and this can wait, we've received random gate activations before, last time it was just the Genii trying to piss us off, maybe they're more persistent that we thought."

"It might be more serious though and you know she'd be angry that we didn't tell her, Carson's orders be damned"

"There's no reasoning with you?"

"No, you should know that by now Rodney, you're supposed to be some kind of genius you know..."

"Oh very funny, but I'm not letting you hide in my office this time when Becket calls, I want no part of this or the 24 hour medical examination that's no doubt in your future." At this Sheppard had no smart ass remark to make as he knew very well the risks of angering the Scottish doctor.

When they reached the door to Dr. Elizabeth Weir's quarters he was just about to press the button to open the door when McKay, standing next to him grabbed his hand.

"Hey what're you doing McKay?"

"You can't just barge in! she might be... I dunno but you can't just walk in without knocking"

"Rodney, this is Elizabeth we're talking about." And before Rodney could stop him John had pressed the button and walked a step inside.

The room was dark but John knew from his own room that the bed would be directly in front of him with a desk on his right, slightly further back would be a bathroom (or the Ancient equivalent) and a side room to his left. "Hello?"

A light beside the bed switched on and a very disgruntled Lieutenant Cadman sat up.

"What!?!"

"Cadman?"

"Yeah?"

"What are you doing here?"

"I live here..."

"What? No you don't this is Elizabeth's room... isn't it?"

A light on the other side of the bed switched on revealing an equally tired and annoyed looking Elizabeth Weir . "Yes this is my room..."

Johns face turned in a single second from confusion, to stunned comprehension and quickly to embarrassment as he realised the situation he had walked in on. "Colonel Sheppard, what can I do for you?"

"Uh, um, uh, nothing, I'll just be, uh, going now" He stepped back into the corridor and the door shut behind him. Weir turned to Cadman,

"Maybe we should get a lock..."

Outside the room

"I told you to knock first..."

AN: Yay! another Cadman fic, I suspect more of these are coming soon if I can keep up my writing :) I just love the character, so much potential and I wish they'd bring her back. Please review, they make a writers day, even the bad ones (provided they're constructive).
