Alex took a deep breath. He was sitting alone, staring into the amber liquid in the bottom of his glass. She watched him tip his head back and swallow it. He noticed her standing by the door.
"Oi, Bolly! Get yer arse over 'ere!" He called.
Why oh why did she have to fall for him? There were so many better men out there, why him? She sighed and walked over to join him.
"I have something to tell you." She told him softly.
"Oh yeah? And what would that be Bolly?"
"I love you." She whispered.
Silence came over the whole of Luigi's. She looked around. Chris and Ray looked shocked. Ray was chocking on his whiskey chaser. Shazza, however, was smiling. Alex smiled weakly back. She watched as a smile slowly spread across his face.
"I love you too." He told her.
He pulled her into a tight hug, lifting her off the ground. He kissed her soft lips.
Gene Hunt was now a man in love.
