Pain. the word described the poor blonde childs very being as he was beaten and tortured by the villagers around him. Three soft taps and the people..no monsters around him fell to the ground in lifeless heaps of flesh.

Naruto Uzamaki looked up with lifeless dull blue eyes at the ambu inu, cat, and tenzo operatives slowly walked forward. Inu holding his hands out as if to mean no harm while whispering it would be okay. They looked around as a dry old voice croaked then looked at the boy in horror as they realized it emanated from his young body.

"And just what do you want come to punish me as well". Inu's eyes hardened as the previous regret for the civilians around faded to nothing. he slowly took off his mask and in a quiet but controlled voice the grey haired cyclops spoke.

"We've come to help you naruto.. to finally be the family you've always deserved". The last of his sentence a mere whisper but naruto heard it just as well. The jinchuriki's eyes widened in disbelief.

A faint flicker of life hit the cerulean blue eyes as the child sat up even as his body groaned in protest. Naruto looked at them, and even though the poor 4 year old had been beaten and abused since birth there was something in inu's eyes that compelled him to trust him. Naruto slowly extended a pudgy little hand that was shaking slightly in fear.

"Whats your name inu-san?"

The large man slowly looked at his companions then back at the boy kneeling he slowly, gingerly grasped the little boys hand in his own. Noting with slight amusement how his hand dwarfed naruto's. He looked into those saphire enigmas that were naruto's eyes and spoke

"Hatake...Kakashi Hatake...your fathers student"

Naruto gasped as this information flooded into his mind. With a trembling voice and barely veiled excitement naruto asked.

"H-his s-student?! Who w-was he?"

Words whispered so softly they could have been mistaken for the soft sounds of the city at night.

"Minato.. Namikaze"

Naruto broked down and cried right there in front of the three anbu kakashi scooped him up and motioned to the others. With not so much of a sound they lept into the night.

what none of them realized is this would be the start of a legend.. a legend that would shake the ninja world to its ROOTS.
