He stared down at the little Wutai warrior curled up beside him.

Her mouth hung slightly open.

He brushed her soft, black hair to one side.

The sheet fell over her form, covering her, but not hiding her shape.

She was short, loud, feisty, a pain in the neck.

And he loved her more than he believed possible.

It was times like this that reminded him truly how deep his love for her was.

She made a sound; he wondered if she was dreaming of battle, or their romp not two hours ago.

It didn't matter what she dreamed, as long as he was able to lay beside her, watching her.

He traced her lips, her eyelids, her nose; soft enough not to wake her, firm enough to let him know she was really there.

She would probably laugh if she found out he did this; watching her at night.

He had to.

When the world was so mad, when things just didn't seem right.

When he didn't feel right.

She was his anchor to sanity. His phone began to buzz. He cursed the thing since he bought it.

Reaching over to the table beside the bed, he flipped it open.

A text from Cid.

He looked down to the ninja. Still sleeping.

Before he even read the text, he replied to it, then tossed the phone under the bed.

He rolled back over to her, watching her breath.

He couldn't hold off any longer.

He bent forward, pressing his lips softly to her forehead, down her cheek, finally resting on her lips.

He felt her intake of breath, then release with a contented sigh.

As he pulled away, he melted at the sleepy, satisfied look on her face.

"What was that for?"

"Just... because. Because there's nowhere I would rather be, no one I would rather be with."

She grinned, nuzzling into his bare chest.

"Silly..."

This was his world; right here, right now.

Perfect.

Cid raised an eyebrow and chuckled as he read the message from Vincent.

I have Yuffie and now she is trying to sleep.

Whatever it is can wait till morning.
