Fruity

For being a dog Sirius really liked fruit. Perhaps it was the natural sugars, or the refreshing taste, or the thirst quenching abilities, but he really liked fruit. He sat before the fruit bowl and shook his head. There were too many choices! That wasn't exactly a bad thing but he had no idea what to eat first. His fingers ran through his long black tresses as he eyed each on darkly. He knew if Remus was here he would be teasing him about his indecisive nature, and Sirius himself would probably jibe back that he would rather eat Remus. A smile teased at his lips.

He loved fruit, and he loved Remus. For some reason he entertained the thought of deciding which fruit reminded him the most of Remus. It seemed like a good idea at the time. He pulled a fruit from the bowl at random and snorted. The banana, too obvious. He tossed the fruit aside casually and grabbed for another. Next he brought forth a cherry. Men didn't have cherries… so to speak. Thus he tossed it aside once more. Next came a fig, that was a possibility. Figs covered that which was forbidden but Sirius didn't want it covered.

A pear came next. That was also a possibility. Friends or lovers were supposed to share the fruit to avoid being separated. But Remus wasn't here so that didn't work. Next came a pomegranate, that was a symbol of marriage and quickly vetoed. They would never get married. Strawberry… that was an interesting choice. Strawberries meant rebirth and good health, also supposed to guide on the pathway to heaven. Neither of them were religious though. It seemed he was running out of fruit. There had to be something! How about an orange… that was a wish for good fortune. He already had good fortune, he had Remus after all.

An apricot perhaps… no he hated apricots. Melon maybe… it symbolized family. But no something better caught his eyes. An apple, red and beautiful, symbolizing wisdom and peace. It was everything Remus was. Yes an apple was perfect for Remus. The apple of his eye.
