THE EVER BROKEN POTTER
"It's auror Potter again, hurry get the emergency supplies." Malfoy found himself being barked at by head healer Fritz as she ran by. Malfoy hurried to the emergency room and unlocked the cabinet pulling a kit of potions out as Potter was rolled in on a stretcher by the head healer. Malfoy had been in the emergency ward of St Mungo's for two years now, and had treated Potter many times. The auror had a knack for getting himself hurt on the job; it was like he thought he was invincible or something. Malfoy remembered his taunt back in their fifth year 'It must be, what, a whole week since you were in the hospital wing, that's a record for you, isn't it?'. He guessed some things never change. When Malfoy saw that Potter was at least conscious however, he relaxed immensely. Malfoy knew by now that if Potter was awake that there was no need to rush around or be frantic like Fritz was. She was really good at being flustered when it came to healing HARRY POTTER; it was a frequent annoyance for Malfoy.
"Really healer Fritz it's just a break I'm fine. You don't have to put everyone on high alert like this." Malfoy heard Potter reassuring the healer as she fussed about him.
"Now now," Fritz said with a disapproving waggle of her finger "- don't understate the severity of your injuries. We will get you fixed up Mr. Potter. Malfoy bring the potion please." Fritz finished with another bark in Malfoy's direction. He grabbed a minor pain potion, the break could be fixed by a quick spell, so he couldn't imagine what other potion could possibly be needed. He felt his annoyance level rising at how much of his time Fritz was wasting. None the less he turned around with a smile plastered on his face.
"Here you are auror Potter. It's for the pain." He said handing it to Potter to drink. Malfoy noticed Fritz begin to pull out pillows and a blanket and knew that healer Fritz would insist Potter stayed over night. She would say it was to ensure it was fixed properly and he could walk, but Malfoy knew it was because she liked having Potter in her ward. The stupid woman hadn't even fixed his actual leg yet.
"Well what are you waiting for Malfoy, heal the poor kid." Fritz said to him as though he was the one wasting time with unnecessary things.
"Maybe it would be prudent for me to first have room healer Fritz. You are standing right over top of him with your arms full of bedding after all." Malfoy said in a clipped tone, he knew he was pushing his luck but he was tired of the woman's unprofessional antics. The healer glared at him, placed the bedding on the chair next to Potter's bed and then left the room - slamming the door slightly as she left.
"Sorry Malfoy. It really isn't a big deal." Potter said like he was trying to reassure Malfoy.
"Oh I'm aware. That break is less than a minute fix and you would be out of here. You probably know that from your time in the Hogwarts hospital wing though. Of course with Fritz around there is no way you will be getting out of here before tomorrow around midday. In retrospect you should probably feel sorry for yourself not me. I at least get to go home tonight." Malfoy moved closer to Potter and performed the charm to mend his leg.
"Wait so your not going to stay with me overnight?" Potter said in a tone of disappointment.
"My warm bed or an uncomfortable chair all night; what do you think?" Malfoy said with a smirk.
"It won't be as warm without me in it." Potter grinned mischievously.
"Shut up, Potter. I told you no mentioning 'us' in public." Malfoy hissed at him.
"We aren't in public - no one can see us." Potter was lifting his eye brow in a suggestive, almost challenging way. Malfoy couldn't stand when he did that, it made him lose his composure. Potter knew this of course and that's why he loved doing it so much.
"You're evil, Potter." Malfoy said, casting a few spells to make sure they wouldn't be heard or walked in on. Their night in the hospital turned out to be excellent after all.
