Disclaimer: I don't own digimon, Rika Nonaka, Renamon, Floramon, digi-modify, digivolve or any other terms used here in. I have not been paid for this fanfiction.

The air was thick with mist as Rika placed her glasses over her eyes. "Ready, Renamon? Let's end this chump and go home."

The golden bipedal fox materialized beside her partner, narrowing her eyes at the vegetation type revealed through the rolling smoke. The purple petals for hands with a red one covering it's head gave it away. "Hrm, a Floramon..."

"Just a rookie, you should have little problem with him." Rika's voice sounded a bit disappointed. "Digi-modify, speed activate." She swiped the modify card through her d-power and watched as Renamon swiftly appeared beside the Floramon.

The poor plant digimon had no time to react as the lithe vulpine form phased behind him. "Power Paw!" Blue flames wreathed her clawed hands and feet. Renamon first snapped her leg around in a high kick that connected with his head, only to duck down and follow it with a clawed fist to the stomach.

Despite being merely a rookie, the vegetation digimon was no stranger to battle. "Stamen rope!" One of the coils that served akin to a hand lengthened from it's blossom to grasp Renamon around the waist. The other caught the vixen's wrists and held them painfully together behind her back. The plant digimon began lifting her off the ground. Squirming in such a tight grasp, the fox digimon attempted to teleport behind him to no avail.

"Tch! Finish this loser, Renamon. I'm getting impatient." A golden ear twitched as she heard her tamer's call. "Digi-modify, strength activate." Renamon felt a sudden surge of power as she twisted in the Floramon's grasp. Flexing her muscles she broke the restraints holding her.

Not wasting a second she phased off to his side, floating above him in the air. The vixen's golden furred legs curled in to her stomach with her arms folded above them, a glow enveloping her body. Spreading her arms and legs, she shouted, "Diamond Storm!" Several glistening shards appeared to rain down, tearing into the flesh of her enemy.

The Floramon has fortitude, she'd give him that. He staggered after such a stunning blow and stood aiming the petaled limbs at her. "Rain of Pollen," his voice croaked with a hint of weariness. The golden pollen fluttered towards the fox digimon who gagged and spluttered as she inhaled a bit.

"Don't breathe that in, Renamon!" Rika shouted out a warning.

All of a sudden Renamon began to want to give up. "W-why are we fighting again?" She cocked her head at the plant digimon, looking confused. He smirked, a sinister look in his eye managed to elude her gaze.

"Renamon, I didn't say you could stop. Remember you said you were the strongest." The vixen's eyes flickered and she shook her head to clear the fog.

"That's right, I am the strongest." And I will prove I am worthy of my tamer.

Renamon jumped, disappearing briefly to appear behind the Floramon. "Diamond Storm!" The shards sparkled in the moonlight, before ripping into the enemy digimon. His data unraveled, the reddish orbs floating skyward.

"Don't forget to absorb his data, Renamon," Rika admonished. "You need to digivolve already..."

Renamon nodded and the data changed direction, flowing into her. She allowed herself a small smile as she felt the strength of another within her veins. Stalking silently after the tamer who had already began walking home without telling her, the fox digimon hoped she'd figure out digivolving soon.

Author's Note: I know they glossed over the sheer number of battles Rika and Renamon fought at the beginning, so I figured I could try my hand at a combat story. I hope you liked it.
