Cece nervously waited on the dance floor. Jess had wandered off long ago in the hopes of tracking Nick down. It had been over an hour since Jess departed, so to Cece it looked like her best friend's boyfriend was better at hiding than her best friend was at seeking. Being alone in crowd of people isn't something models normally deal with, but Cece wasn't a normal model.

All of a sudden when her loneliness and ensuing embarrassment had reached a peak, Schmidt came running through the crowd. He saw his ex-girlfriend and took a leap of faith as he wrapped his arms around her.

A wave of shock passed quickly as soon as it hit her that she was engulfed in the familiar arms of her ex-boyfriend. Shock turned to confusion. Why was he running? Why did he look scared? Why did he come here? Why was he snuggled against her chest?

Confusion turned to acceptance. From his familiar post against her chest he mumbled about how he was hiding from the bouncers and they swayed when he said something along the lines of "Dance with me."

As soon as Cece heard those words, the feeling that overtook her was indescribable. All of a sudden it all seemed right. Like a door lock's tumbler's aligning, the combination of those hands on her waist, that head against her chest, and those lips muttering her name drove her heart into the stratosphere.

What bothered her, though, is that she didn't know why. After all the jealousy, white-fanging, sabotaging, and cheating that happened the last two years it drove her crazy how easy it was for him to still drive her crazy.

After the bouncer was long gone, Cece noticed she was enjoying this little moment way too much. She disguised her bliss with sarcastic commands for him to get off of her. He obeyed, but only half way. They began to dance back and forth, only this time his dangerously enamoring eyes were locked at the latitude of her eyes and they did all the talking.

They spoke of memory and meaning, of emotion and feeling. Feeling. Schmidt made Cece angry. He made her upset, sad, glad, annoyed, happy, amused, safe, calm, anxious, nervous, excited, secure, and furious all at the same time. The point was that he made her feel, unlike Robby and Shivrang who were, in retrospect, purely emotionless props. Jess did tell her once that she was jealous of the passion that her and Mr. Schmidt shared. Cece flashed back through all of their emotionally charged memories within seconds using his beautiful eyes as the portal. And at the end what she found was clear.

She would never, ever, ever, never be this in love with anyone who wasn't Schmidt.

That's why she broke a smile when they continued to sway back and forth. They made light talk about his insecure need for "cooler" friends but she knew him. And he knew her. Which meant that he knew that she knew that it was all a bunch of substance-less, in-the-moment claims.

As much as Schmidt talked the talk, they both knew he would never abandon his best friends. And on the dance floor, through optical communication only two people deeply connected could achieve, they made it clear right then and there that they wouldn't, well, they couldn't physically give up on each other.

A/N: Hey guys, this is just a little blurb I had stuck in my head after the Prince episode, the Schmece in it was just too fantastic to ignore. Hope you all enjoyed, please review thank you!

Best,
