My best friend was Beatrice prior. She was literally my whole life I was 14 and her 12 when I realized that I thought of her more than a friend. But she had to move and after that I became depressed

I woke up late at night to find my phone ringing. I looked at the screen and found out it was Bea. I grinned and picked up the phone thinking that only she could wake me up by calling me at this ungodly hour and get away with it

I picked it up and heard Bea say "toby, can you meet me at our special spot I need to tell you something important" now, normally I would have told her no because if Marcus caught me sneaking around late at night the beatings would only get worse. But when I heard her voice my heart stopped she sounded as if she'd been crying for the past few hours when your best friend is crying you cant just leave the matter unattended.

I asked her frantically "is every thing okay? Are you hurt? What happened?

She just said please meet me quick"

I took a long breath dressed and quietly snuck out of the house and reached our spot in the park which was a secluded part separated by a curtain of creepers which covered it. we discovered it when we were young.

When I looked up I found Bea with chin on knees crying I took four long strides and came next to her she raised her head and I looked at her face.

Her eyes were puffy and red. This wasn't the Bea I met at school everyday this wasn't her asked her softly what happened

And the words, which came out of her mouth, are the ones that I dreaded the most

"We are moving' my heart felt as it had been shattered into a million pieces.

"When are you leaving?"

"Tomorrow, at dawn "

No, no this was not happening, Tomorrow was the day I was going to tell her about my true feelings and ask her to be my girl friend

But what she did surprised me the most she pressed he lips to mine and pulled me close to her. At first I was shocked but then I pulled her closer to me and kissed her back"

She pulled back first and whispered "I will be back for you toby I promise"

This memory bought and small smile to a my face and only the little memories that we shared made my life worth living
