She looked at him excitedly. "Do you believe in magic?"
Sirius didn't have an answer for that. "Magic?"
She sighed and flopped back down on the grass, gazing at the stars. "Do you believe in people who can…I don't know, fly? Or…or breathe underwater. You know, magic."
"I…I don't know." he responded. It seemed like a safe answer.
"Oh, come on, Sirius. It's a yes or no question."
"Do you?"
"I want to, and sometimes, when I look at the stars I think that magic can exist, but then other times, it just seems so farfetched. I…I think I believe in it. Oh look, it's starting!"
And the sky was lit up with blues and greens and reds and all the colors of the rainbow. The shuddering boom in the background seemed to excite her.
After the display of lights was over, she lay back against the grass. "I always love the fireworks. Which one was your favorite?" she asked.
"I liked the gold ones that just zoomed off into the sky."
"Those ones are boring. And they didn't make a respectable boom!"
"I dunno-they remind me of a spell zooming out of someone's wand." As soon as the words were out of his mouth, he mentally kicked himself.
She looked at him. "So you do believe in magic."
"I guess so."
She scooted closer to him and he put his arm around her. "I once saw a dragon." she whispered.
Sirius, who was dozing off, sat straight up. "What?"
"I was in Wales, on holiday, and I saw a big green shape, in the sky, and it breathed a flash of fire into the air. I never told anyone, they'd think I was crazy. Do you think I am?"
"Are what?"
"Crazy. D'you think I imagined it?"
Sirius shook his head. "I bet there are things out there that we can't explain." he responded.
She leaned against his chest. "I better go. My mum'll be worrying." She kissed him on the cheek, and pushed herself up. "Bye, Sirius."
He watched her walk along the road leading to her house. "Bye." he whispered.
I mayhaps have an idea, but you must tell me if this has any chance of being mildly okay. I don't want 'LUVZZ IT!1!' I would like your honest opinion.
But if 'LUVZZ IT!1!' is your honest opinion, please tell me so.
