A/N: Just a really quick oneshot about something I read on a group (Guns and Games). I just had this thought if what would Matt's reaction be if he read this…
He couldn't believe it! After many hours mashing those little buttons, so many hours jumping and mushroom munching, he had lost.
The worst case scenario… Matt had killed Mario.
Was it he just missed the ledge? Was it the fireball coming from behind Mario? Or was it the fact that the little white ds console had finally given in to all those hours of Matt's obsessive button mashing?
Sighing, he heaved himself off the couch and picked up the laptop. Listening to the little clicks of the keyboard as he typed the cursed word 'cheats' into the search engine, a little flashing icon looked like it was having an epileptic fit.
Absent-mindly moving the cursor over the flashing envelope, his eyes widened in shock at what had appeared on the screen.
"Ohba said that Matt was not important and he had never been in The Wammy House. The note that said this was put into "Death Note How to Read 13" by an editor to fill empty space, after Ohba had told him to 'put anything there, it doesn't matter'. None of them expected that fans would become interested in that throwaway fact and make Matt into something that he really was not."
Not only had his intelligence been insulted, along with his pride and dignity suddenly diminishing, who was this Ohba? Of course he had been in Wammy's House. Where does this Ohba believe he met Mello?
"I am just to fill an empty space..?"
His eyes blank and face drained of all emotion, he scrolled down to read the rest.
"Matt was just a goon being manipulated by Mello into acting against Kirra by all accounts. He was not supposed to have a brain, mind or personality of his own, but just be there to advance the Mello storylines. It's a source of irritation to Ohba and artist Obata that fans turned him into so much more."
"… Mello was manipulating me?"
He didn't know what to believe anymore, this Ohba and some artist named Obata had just rid him of all self-respect. Scrolling his cursor over the date, a little pop-up box read the date 1st April, 2012.
"Surely this was just some really bad April Fool's joke, right?"
If only he knew what horrors would come up if he decided to further research this Ohba…
