For You to Notice
I'm starting to fashion an idea in my head
Where I would impress you with every single word I said
It would come out insightful,
or brave,
or smooth,
or charming
And you'd want to call me

"So in the end, you weren't able to find the contact?" Doumeki asked Watanki. His hands folded promptly over his tray of food, which contained nothing more then a small soda now.
"Yeah." Watanuki mumbled, his mouth stuffed with burger.
"And you're sure the twins are really human?" What kind of question was that?
"Huh?" Watanuki paused, mouth open and burger midway to his mouth as he stared at Doumeki from the corner of his eye.
"It's happened before, right? That Zashiki-warashi wasn't human, right?"
Watanuki stared down at his burger. "Oooh..." He muttered thinking back to the girl. He was right, she hadn't been human. But he hadn't really given it much thought to the twins. They seemed so...normal. Surely, they were human.
"So there's at least a chance that those twins aren't human."
"Yuko-san never said anything about it." Watanuki sighed as he placed the burger back down onto his tray. Yuko was normally good at being able to sense those types of things. Surely she would have warned him had he been dealing with the unnatural.
"They..." Doumeki paused at his own words, unsure if he even wanted to say them. He glanced around, finally looking back at Watanuki and continuing. "...really seem to like you, don't they? Those ghosts and stuff?"
"Huh..." Watanuki seemed to think it over as he looked back at him, crumpling up his burger wrapper. He had never really thought of it before. But that look that the other was giving him, was Doumeki...concerned?
"Maybe the Zashiki-Warashi wasn't a bad spirit...but you can't guarantee that all of them won't be."

And I would be there every time you need me
I'd be there every time
"E-even if that's true, it doesn't have anything to do with you!" Watanuki huffed, turning away and resting his left elbow on the table.
"Yes, it does." Doumeki stated simply.
"Okay...it did take your soul for a while, but..." Watanuki mumbled.
"That's not what I mean!" Doumeki growled, catching Watanuki off guard, taking him aback as he gave the other a puzzled look. "If something happens to you."
"Doumeki?"
"I…"
-
But for now I'll look so longingly waiting
for you to want me,
"...I may never be able to eat boxed lunch again."
Anger flashed across Watanuki's face as he threw his arms up. "Am I suppose to keep making you lunch?!"
for you to need me,
for you to notice me.
"You went to that shop?" Himiwari asked, the two of them walking down the hall as they carried supplies towards the supply room.
"Yeah. The cake there was delicious!" Watanuki nodded at her.
"I love it too!" She smiled, giggling happily.
Watanuki blushed and clutched at his chest as he curled up. Himiwari-chan is too cute!
Concern flashed across Himiwari's face as she watched Watanuki grab at his chest, taking it as a sign of distress. "Are you alright? Maybe I should carry the printouts."
"What, no, I'm just fine!" Watanuki shook his head happily, neither of them noticing Doumeki, the man had been following them for some time now, an annoyed expression now on his face. "Um, oh, I know, why don't we go for cake?" Watanuki asked happily.
Doumeki took the opportunity to finally make his presence known. "I'd prefer noodles rather than cake."
Dammit.
Watanuki did a dramatic swish as he let his papers fly into the air and flutter around him, falling to his knees. Why did Doumeki always have to ruin his time with Himiwari?!
"Oh, you're here on teacher business too, Doumeki?" Himiwari smiled, turning to face him.
"Yeah." He lied, a packet of blank paper he had grabbed from a classroom tucked beneath his arm.

I'm starting to fashion an idea in my head

"A long time ago, they believed that words held stranger powers. Some people even called Japan the land of the soul of language." Watanuki stood leaning against his elbows on the roof, staring up at the sky as he listened to Doumeki talk.
"Yeah. That was written in my dictionary." Doumeki muttered turning to stare down at the street below, turned to look at Watanuki out of the corner of his eye, catching Watanuki, a small smile on his lips as he tried to prevent himself from laughing.-
It would come out insightful,
or brave,
or smooth,
or charming

"Domek-kun was there for ten hours holding Himiwari-chan's ribbon." Yuko informed him.
"What for?" Watanuki blinked in confusion.
-
And I would be there every time you need me
I'd be there every time

"From the time you disappeared until the time I got there, it was constantly raining, but Domeki had abandoned his umbrella and he was digging with all his might. I almost thought that he had buried you." Yuko told him. "Well...the place you had gone to wasn't actually beneath the Hydrangeas, so he didn't really have to dig."
Watanuki turned his gaze towards the ground, a look of guilt crossing his face .
"So what should I do" he asked, and I told him to hold out the ribbon." Yuko watched the emotions flash across Watanuki's face. She wasn't going to let slip the emotions that flashed across Doumeki's as well. The way the other had panicked, his face had stayed straight, but his eyes were widder then usual, his breathing was rapid, and his hands refused to stay still. It was true fear, true concern. True lose. He was certain he had lost the other. "I said "if Watanuki had the other ribbon, he should notice you holding out yours. Until he does, you have to hold yours."
-
But for now I'll look so longingly waiting
for you to want me,
"There's something weird about those wings." Watanuki muttered as he and Doumeki left the school.
"You get some strange feeling for them?" Doumeki questioned.
"No. Nothing at all. But you remember when I found a feather...when I was helping you in the library yesterday?" Douemki studied him as Watanuki spoke. "When Yuko-san noticed it...she said to me..."Be very careful. Being 'game' is very dangerous."
"Game?" Doumeki stopped in his tracks. Was that...concern in Doumeki's tone?
Watanuki sighed as he shook his head. "What "game" could she be talking about?"
"No matter what it is...if she tells you to be careful, you'd better not go sticking your neck out." He warned him.
"What's your problem? What I do is my business!" Watanuki growled back. He didn't need Doumeki telling him what to do.
Doumeki simply ignored his outburst and continued to talk. "If anything happened to you..."
"Yeah, yeah, your source of free lunch would dry up, right?" Watanuki scoffed, annoyed.
"No!" Watanuki's eyes widdened as Doumeki snapped at him.
for you to need me,
for you to notice me.

"I wouldn't be able to have as many opportunities to laugh at an idiot in action." Doumeki finally replied after a moment's pause.
"That's even worse!" Watanuki growled, making a fist. He wanted to punch Doumeki, but instead of opted in turning and storming off into the shop, leaving Doumeki to stare after him. "You're the idiot, you brazen faced cretin!" Watanuki's screams were the last thing Doumeki heard.
Doumeki sighed. "Nice going." He clunked his fist into his head before turning and heading on home.
Please forgive me, since this is my first actual songfic I and my first XXXholic fic I decided to just mostly use quotes that I found that seemed to go with the music, though I did happen to add a few things. Sorry if it jumped around a lot, but I couldn't find enough story line's from just one chapter to fit the whole song.
