Summary: MAJOR SPOLIER FOR THE END OF THIS SERIES
Behind ghosts approached gaining speed, among them Daleks, Cybermen, Slitheen, Sycorax; they were all there people who had invaded Earth or been vanquished by the Doctor. There was only one-way to defeat them, a deadly way; no mortal weapon can kill a ghost.
Rose was slightly worse for wear than the Doctor, covered in bruises and cuts as the pair ran towards the TARDIS as fast as they could. Rose held his hand tightly not wanting to let go for a second.
The Doctor slammed the TARDIS door shut as soon as Rose was through. He was there to catch her when she collapsed. They remained clinging onto each other while they struggled for breath.
The Doctor reached for the controls pulling Rose with him. What he was about to attempt would use most of the TARDIS' power and leave them with little chance of survival.
"I always promised Jackie I would look after you." He mumbled, as he finished fiddling with the controls.
"You have and you will.'" She told him sternly. "This isn't the end Doctor."
"Rose…" He muttered. "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry."
"This is our only choice. Don't worry about me."
"When I set the wave, there will be a thirty second burst of highly modulated energy…" Rose placed a finger on his lips.
"I know." He hugged her tightly, for what might be the last time. "Do it." She told him softly. The Doctor looked into her eyes. He reached and slammed the button down with his fist. They felt the TARDIS buzz with energy. Rose looked round the room and watched as the panels began to spark and fizz. Rose turned her head back to the Doctor and smiled gently.
The Doctor saw his chance and captured her lips. Immediately the kiss became desperate, tongues battling, frantically trying to make the most of the time they had left.
"I want no regrets." He told her as they pulled away. He rested his forehead against hers, closing his eyes. "I want you to know that I love you." Rose eyes glistened with tears.
"I love you too. And there's no one I'd rather face the end with."
"Me too." He beamed one of his big heartfelt smiles at her; she smiled back at him. He pulled her closer to him burying his head in her neck as she laid hers on his shoulder. They revelled in possibly the last moments they had together.
The lights in the TARDIS dimmed as the energy burst slowly signalled its end and the instantaneous beginning of that fatal chain reaction.
He violently hit the button for the engines to begin; he just hoped there was enough power and time left.
As the planet underneath them exploded.
THE ENDFor the rest you'll have to see the next series.
