First off: I do not own any of the Twilight characters, no matter how much I wish differently. I only own this story's plot and I cling to it like a lifeline.

That said, I hope you enjoy. Yes, it is a short one shot. I'm actually thinking of including it into my long short story but I'm not sure if that's the direction it's heading towards. Anyways, read and let me know what you think.

Could it be? Was it finally over? It had to be because I could no longer feel the pain. That indescribable pain, like molten lava running through my veins and scalding me to the point of insanity. How I wished for death or the sweet nothingness of unconsciousness that eluded me despite my screaming pleas. How long had it been? A day? Two? Weeks? I had absolutely no idea but it had seemed like forever, like I would be tortured for all of eternity for loving that which no human should. Suddenly his beautiful form loomed brightly in the darkness and I reached for him. "Edward…" He was getting farther and farther away despite my frantic callings for him. "Edward." I made a desperate lunge for him and with a cry toppled off of the huge bed I had been laying in.

"Bella?" Edward's hollow voice came from a corner of the room where he had been sitting.

The room was dark but I could see him perfectly as I turned to him. "Edward!" I cried happily as I got to my feet and ran to him. I threw my arms around him and kissed his cheek, "Oh Edward, I had such a horrible dream…" I stopped mid-sentence. Edward was looking at me sadly and I didn't know why. "What's wr—"

Footsteps sounded and I turned again. They were all there. The rest of the Cullen's and the Hale's entered the room and spread out, each looking at me with sadness, worry and relief evident in their eyes.

"What's going on?" I asked worriedly. Had something happened that I didn't know about? Were they going to leave again? Panic gripped me and I tightened my hold on Edward as I looked at each in turn and finally settled my gaze on Edward's haggard face. He averted his gaze and looked down at the floor. Forgive me Bella I heard him whisper; obviously he hadn't meant me to hear.

I slowly stood and turned to Alice. She would tell me. "Alice…" I whispered, frightened. She held her hand out to me and I took it. Her once uncomfortably cold hands barely fazed me now. Alice pulled me across the room and towards a full-length mirror. I turned to the mirror and looked upon my reflection not fully comprehending what was going on. My always abnormally pale skin was even paler which I thought strange. I must have been out cold for longer than I thought with no sun contact. That was fine with me; I'd just buy one of those tan-in-a-bottle's when I next went shopping. I looked at the reflections of everyone in the mirror, "Look, why don't you just…" I gasped. My eyes! They were a bright red. Leaning forward I touched their reflection. Why were they red? Did I get contacts? I shifted my gaze to look at Edward's reflection; he had his head in his hands, his shoulders shaking. I knew that if he could, he would be sobbing. But why…?

And then it hit me. I stumbled backwards, away from the mirror and whirled around. Everyone looked away except Alice, who held her arms open to me. I doubled over, suddenly overcome by a thirst so vicious I had to fight with all of my strength to keep from running out of there and killing the first live thing that crossed my path. The thought so repulsed me that the thirst momentarily subsided to nothingness and I straightened again. Alice's arm's wrapped around me and she whispered lovingly as she soothingly stroked my hair, "Welcome home, Bella."
