"Inner Beauty"
Toph stood there, not sure what to do. she knew what a mirror was, but she didn't have a use for one. She was blind after all. As she listened to Katara getting ready, she posed a question to the waterbending master.
"Why do people use mirrors, anyway? I think it's a waste of time."
Katara thought for a moment. She had never been ask that random of a question before.
After gathering her thoughts together, Katara tried to answer her little sister's question.
"Well, I guess to see if we look pretty or not."
Toph nodded, still not getting it.
"But you told me I already looked pretty." She reminded her older sister. "Remember, when we left the spa?"
Katara nodded. She did remember. She was glad she had been able to make Toph feel better.
Toph crossed her arms in front of her chest and gave Katara a look.
"So if you already know I'm pretty, why do you waste your time in front of a mirror, just so you can let it tell you what you already know is true."
Katara had to think about this. Toph did have a point.
Seeing that she was getting through to Katara, Toph continued her explaination.
"You told me that beauty is on the inside as well. So isn't being beautiful on the inside, more important than what's on the outside?"
Katara finally nodded. She grinned at Toph while placing a gentle hand on her shoulder.
"You're right. Inner beauty is more important than being beautiful on the outside." With that, Katara left the room, satisfied with the way she looked. She knew Aang thought of her as beautiful on the inside and thanks to Toph, Katara now knew which image was true. Besides, who needed a mirror anyway? Toph certainly didn't. She was able to see that Katara was beautiful on the inside and she couldn't even see what she looked like on the outside.
As Katara and Toph left for dinner, Katara posed a question to her younger sister.
"How did you know I was beautiful on the inside without being able to see what I look like on the outside?"
Toph grinned as she walked beside Katara.
"I looked with my heart."
Katara nodded and smiled. She liked that answer and she was going to try and do that more often.
"Thanks," Katara said, holding the door for Toph as they entered the restaurant they were meeting Sokka and Aang at.
"For what?" Toph asked, even though she already knew the answer.
"For helping me see with my heart."
The Blind Bandit cocked her head and gave Katara a grin.
"No problem, sis. Anytime."
